Many things like equipment, recovery techniques, etc apply to all generations.

You'll notice that for the most part, mostly everyone wants to see others succeed.

Just don't turn into a Friday thread asking what's the best oil, or tire, or why does my truck not drive like a car? Yes, those are questions often asked on here. :burp:

Oh yes. Those are all over the Facebook pages. “What’s the biggest tire I can fit without cutting or lifting?” …every day.

Airing down is a smart move for the travel you describe.

If I understand correctly: four hoses, all tires, at one time with your present compressor.

    Consider:
    1. Head pressure through four long hoses and the volume needed presents a very significant load.
    2. System electrical capacity should be robust.
    3. Mechanical pumping capacity should be robust.
    4. Learn about duty-cycle.
    5. Airing up can be fun, if you want it that way.
    6. Get a bigger compressor.

While we are at it, what compressor would you recommend? Would rather, as of now, store under or behind seat rather than mount it.

IMO, the one you have is better than none at all. Otherwise, the best Viair that makes sense to you.

    What @gillies66 said

Think of PSI as the speed a vehicle travels at

Think of CFM as the width of the highway

Too many people get caught up on the PSI something can reach, but don't realize the volume of air it provides

Doing 4 tires at once will require a much larger volume of air than that air compressor will push I'm sure, and even if it does air up your tires from 18psi...it may be difficult to ensure all 4 tires reach the desired tire pressure setting you require

Thank you guys. Super helpful. Does anyone else here also recommend viair?

Well, I use one all the time and it's the 400P

Surprised with it really considering my first means of airing up was a Powertank using CO2

CO2 provides such high pressure with so much volume you can easily reseat tires with it and even run power tools for a short time

I thought I was largely downgrading when I switched to a battery-run compressor but the Viair has really impressed me

Well I guess I can add that to my Christmas list for myself after the other shopping is done.

What fuse does the Viair run off of?

My big compressor in the garage won't inflate 4 tires at a time. It's 7 cfm at 90 psi, no way a portable can do it, my Diablow twin compressor in the truck wants to shit the bed after 8 tires in a row.....

    Regular sized, 40 amp fuse

I only know remembered cause I had to air up my wife's car 2 days ago and I realized I have a package full of fuses inside when I opened up the bag

Dang. Thanks for the info. I always figured it would be the same load, just longer to fill the additional volume.
    The more ya know…

    Damn

Kind of want to try mine but too lazy to make my own 4-way hose setup

Hell, I've been too lazy to even do a short run plumb job for a single 'drop' and just connect/disconnect stuff via quick connects.

I only run 3 things off my air compressor so yea

You might need a new big compressor. Any of my plug ins will do my 4 at once and my smittybilt oba regularly does my 33s from 12 to 38psi without issue.

I've actually never tried, but I have had 2, 1/2" impacts on it, they pull it right down. If you let it run for a half hour without a break, it will shit the bed also. Think duty cycle.

You are trying to confuse continuous duty versus intermittent duty. Huge difference. Most things do great when used for a few minutes at a time and will burn up if work continuously.

Fair, I initially fell in love with the idea of them all equalizing during filling and one time running the compressor but the more I hear the less it seems like a good go-to.

Complicated one time but now super easy. One compressor 4 short lines.
