I have two four cylinders and one six cylinder. It just happened that way. The four bangers just keep banging away on flatter land so its sufferable at 18-20 22 MPH depending on how I dog em. . The six cylinder is the one that I take long trips with and it does fine getting ~21 MPH on the highway.
I have posted the picture elsewhere on TW.

I agree with you! I love my 4-Banger! It it a very reliable truck that suits my needs very well. I don't need all the bells and whistles.

I like my 4 banger sr but it is not going to get you any speeding tickets.. especially if there are hills.. can't say the 6 is any better and how much better/worse the new turbo engine is...

The 2.7L is a tank of an engine. My 1st Gen has 260k miles and still going strong. Power is lacking, but it’s coupled to a manual transmission.

I’ve always loved the Tacoma’s and 4 runners. After reading on this forum a bit, y’all have me scared of going with a 6 cylinder truck. Was hoping to buy something that would go the distance trouble free. After test driving I’d definitely say the 3.5 was more effortless to drive. But after reading about all the leaks and failures I’m thinking I should have went with the 2.7 instead. Either way, I love the truck and hopefully it will give me some good service. At least better than the Colorado, canyon or ranger

I had the 2.7 1993 Xtend a cab and it was great on mileage etc. I needed more power so traded on a v6 which was great and stuck with the 6s over the years.2004, 2012, 2021.
