Hi, Took my Taco in for a nail in a tire (under warranty)and a brake "idiot" light. Service department at the dealership said my transfer case was leaking. They did repair and now tell me my 4 wheel drive is not engaging. Am I female being taken for a ride $$? I didn't have any problems this past winter with the 4 wheel drive.

What year is your truck? Is your 4 by engaged using a stick or a push button?

I had some problems with my 4 by not engaging and/or not disengaging. I switched the vacuum on the VSV a few times and this seemed to free things up. Now works fine. From what you've written it sounds like they were working on the transfer case, messed something up now want to replace it.

Was the four wheel working before you took it in to the shop?

I don't trust anyone working on my truck for that reason.

it sounds like they messed it up if it was working before.

you need to tell them that it worked fine before you took it to them, and now that they worked on it, it doesnt work anymore. tell them they need to fix it free of charge with a free rental car. and if they say no, tell them you will call corporate.

dont let them f with you just cause your a chick

Also tell them you want to see the parts they replaced.

Had you used the 4WD recently (before you brought it in)? Sounds fishy if it was working before.

What did they "do" to fix the problem, replace a gasket, tighten a bolt, etc...???

Brake (idiot) light wouldn't come on with a leaking T-case, at least I can't see why it would...
