Huh.. My experience is the exact opposite. Nice smooth shifts if I let it roll a little. Need some coordinated footwork if on an incline, but it can still be done for sure.

And as you stated in your follow-up post, the manual allows for anything under 2mph / 3kmh auto or manual

Well only manual trans, not auto. It states auto should be completely stopped. Maybe that's why my friend grenaded his case, or maybe it was just a freak occurrence, who knows.

I've always had best results at a complete stop, shifter in 1st, clutch pedal fully depressed. Blinks for a second or two, clicks, then ready to roll.

It will not go unless the clutch switch is pressed in. That requires holding the clutch all the way down for it to initiate. This is for 4LO only, 4HI doesn’t care about the clutch.

Same. Being in neutral either takes forever or never engages for me. 1st gear it'll engage within a couple seconds.

    This is correct.

I thought mine engaged with the clutch out. Nope.
I switch while in neutral, but the 4Lo doesn't actually engage (light on, beeping off) until I depress the clutch ...to shift into gear.

Here is a follow up on the above problem, I checked into every ones suggestions. EVERY ONES, including the manual.
sad to report, still a big pain in my a...... I was trying this out this past weekend, for no reason at all after playing with this for 10 minutes I was letting it idle, clutch in and bang. I felt it click in ?? REALLY !! SO I did what I needed to do great no problem. NOW FOR THE FUN PART, trying to get it out of 4 low, that was worse then getting it into 4 low. THIS IS A JOKE. I cant be the only one with this problem. Truck has 2200 MILES,, THOUGHTS ???? YES I know warranty. I hate the [dealer] stealer-ships..

Clearly something is not right here brother! My advice is to quit fucking around and take the truck to your dealership for diagnosis. If something is wrong, your warranty will cover it. If nothing is wrong (and they prove it to you), worse case is you pay their diagnosis fee and drive off with your tail between your legs.
