Around the start of April I ordered a 40" light bar that ended up being 41.75" for my 99 Tacoma. And after searching I noticed there wasn't that many options for mounts so I decided to make my own and this is what I came out with. It uses 3nut-serts and screws in each mount to mount in the small channel behind the doors. The mounts should accommodate between a 40" to a 44" light bar seeing as different manufacturers arn't all the exact same. please feel free to leave feed back or any ideas to improve the design.

I havn't Decided on a price yet I need to do the math on material and see how much each set would cost me before I can give a firm price. But it should be on the lower end of the normal mount prices if not cheaper.

Another question, is there any flex in them or are they pretty stout?

Once I had the light bar mounted it wasn't moving when I was pulling on them (the tubes arnt welded on yet which will be an option when buying them) they are made out of 14 gauge so I doubt they are ever gonna flex much.

And the light a just a cheapo Chinese brand I bought for mock up and to use till I can afford a rigid.

The light I used is 41 3/4" wide (mounting surface to mounting surface) but I can make them to fit up to 44 inches or I can send them unwelded so you can do the size yourself. I'm currently working in a deal for powdercoating so that may be an option too, but we will see.

Dude I've never seen those nut serts. How do they work? I did basically the same thing but I ended up putting nylocks on the inside under the headliner. Was a total bitch!!! Wished I knew about those earlier:)

do you find there is light on the windshield? Mine gives a slight glare in nearly the same location. I noticed it when the dust on my windshield became visible lol. I know its pretty common regardless of light brand. A guy on dezrangers ended up making a little visor for the bottom of the light bar as a solution.

There didn't seem to be any glare from the light when I tired it out but I also havn't had it in a dusty area yet, though the light seems to hit just at the bottom of the windshield.

Do you have a link to the visor the guy on DR made? I dont have any windsheild glare with mine but would like to cutdown on the glare off the hood.
