Haha man I knew that screen name was familiar! Thanks again for all the gifts you sent me and my pup last Christmas. He still hasn't chewed through that Nylabone you bought him and I keep that CRKT in my truck. Same with that badass flashlight haha I can't tell you how many times I've used that. Its a great light.

I chat (general/high level)with a a few close coworkers and you'd be surprised in the differences. One was averaging just over 10% - which isn't too bad either.

Make sure you understand the rate of return. Some 401ks will include your contributions and the return rate can be misleading if you are trying to analyze just your return from investments.

and the rates you are being charged. You would be surprised the variance across brokers on fees in your account. they add up quickly, just be aware.

This is true. We just switched company's to a lower admin fee with lower fund fees. It' a no brainer when 90% of the members don' care enough about their retirement.

It amazes me how people invest with no idea on fees and the such. or go into an actively managed fund. I especially hate when they say they dont have time to learn about it themselves to invest. I point them to vanguard and tell them about either the three-fund portfolio or the life cyle funds. About as cheap and simple as can be and they still wont do it.

Course there are also the people who wont even max out company matching. We get 1% auto and the next 4% matching. So many people wont even put 5% in to get the matching.

That drives me nuts. If I was able to guarantee that I know a stock that will double your money by tomorrow people would put everything they could into it. But when offered essentially that same deal in a different context they can't even be bothered to put 5-6% of their salary into it.
