Am I missing something you are implying?

"Emissions standards apply to all gas-powered vehicles manufactured after 1975. If you’ve purchased a brand-new car, you’ll be able to avoid getting smog checks for the first six years by paying a smog abatement fee instead. After that, you’ll need a smog check every two years to keep compliant with emissions standards. When it’s time for an inspection, your renewal notice will say, “SMOG CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.”"

    I quoted this from camotorworks.com

So I can confirm it's 6 years if vehicle is bought new.

I know you still have to pay a fee, but actually getting the visual/sniffer/OBD II code reader is not needed within those 6 years.

As I said, I bought in Grants Pass, Oregon. I had to have the truck smog checked before I could register it in California.

I paid around $33k plus tax and fees for my 2020 SR5 in July. That's insane. I would not pay sticker price so I'd surely tell that dealership to get stuffed.

Not so here in connecticut...once the dealer sells you a vehicle, you need to get checked 2 years from purchase, and every 2 years thereafter whether 0 miles or more. This emission bs is crazy.

I bought in Maryland and Registered in pennsylvania. PA requires an emissions test in some counties with an annual sticker in addition to the annual safety inspection. I had to get both once I got the new truck plates and registration to replace the MD temporary plates. Pennsylvania gives you a new car exemption on the emissions test the first year in counties that require emissions tests. You still have to pay the few bucks for the sticker that PenDOt charges the shop for them.

The photo isn't that clear when i zoom in. It looks like bigger tires than stock but hard to tell, i think those are the stock sr5 dark charcoal wheels.
