That's unfortunate on the dealer situation there... I'll say my dealer here has been great. I get free oil changes (and tire rotation) for life, so I'm not going to not take advantage of that. They've also been VERY accommodating on warranty work and even did my suspension lift, to help reduce impact to my warranty.

I'd say it's case by case, but have definitely done all my own work in the past when I didn't have a good dealer relationship.

Bottom Line: I wouldn't discount all dealerships automatically.

I should have clarified that there are good dealerships out there, you are right yes. Im just speaking from personal and my friends experience. I had some really shitty experience and caught them lying to my face, i couldnt believe it. I called the service advisor out on it too.

I feel you there too... Definitely had some shady dealerships in the past!

I stopped going when they stopped doing them for free. I am not saying I won't ever take it to them for a maintenance, but mostly do my own.

Always changed my own oil in the past, this is first vehicle that I bring in, I'm at 73k miles, my dealer charges me
around $90, I'll pay the extra $$ right now!
I would like to try changing transmission fluid, not sure how hard that is!

    Ha, thats funny!

Man, dont even get me started on my dealer stories. I never ever wrote a bad review in my life, but i had to write a pretty shitty review about them.

you can drain the fluid in the tranny pan and re fill but that does not get the other 6 to 7 quarts in the converter. for that you need a tranny flush. i don't even know if these trannys have a filter in them?

same here but I don't bother, dealer here always has a coupon when it's time and it's the same time I do inspection so about $50 bucks for an oil change
and inspection and done. They just tried pushing the "engine oil conditioner" on me.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
I had my first service performed with the dealer at 5k. They tightened my plastic oil filter so tight that I couldn't remove it without cracking it. That was the last time they saw my truck.
