Reading this while shopping for a used 2016-2017 is depressing. Anything TRD Sport/OR under 60k miles with long bed is $30k+, many over $32k. Only silver lining is that I bought a 2nd gen in Feb when prices were still sane. After hitting a drunk driver it was deemed a total loss by my insurance recently and the payout is $30k. $10k left on the lien should make for a good down payment. In 6-12 months, it will drop $4-5k value in a month once this pandemic shit is over. Oh well.

When I bought my '07 OR new it was 25k OTD. My '19 sport was 32.5 OTD, just checked the paperwork. That price is crazy, and I feel old.

Used trucks are now better than new trucks and people will pay more to prove it.

Y’all losing your shit over MSRP. Common place for folks here to brag about their negotiating skills...ORs gotten for under 34 OTD

almost the same price Quoted for a sr5 . We just drove to another Toyota dealer and 45 min later we got a similar sr5 ,4x4 4door, auto for 33k before tax. If I was a dealer I’d charge whatever someone was willing to pay too, so who can blame them. Just don’t be a dummy and say nope.

Tacoma is one of the few trucks you should not buy used I think. For just a bit more you can have a new truck that someone hasn’t shit all over.

Thanks for your thoughts. Buying anything new is a poor value if you intend to ever sell it (or don't intend to but do). Buying a used truck that has been molested by some bro for unmolested prices is also silly. Buying a used, low miles, unmodified truck (or any vehicle) is always a better value. Even in this crazy market, ill take a 35-40k mile truck that looks and drives like new, has new tires and brakes for $32k over a new truck for $47-50k, all else equal.

I bought my 19 OR for $32,500 (msrp around 39k) Used with 30-50k miles were about $30k when I was looking. That was pre-COVID pricing.

Doesnt matter where they build Tacoma’s. Toyota is a global corporation and the cost of raw materials has increased in regards to their US operations meaning that they will charge more in this market to offset incurred costs to operate here.

Used Tacoma's rarely make sense because the price is so close to new.

I felt really stupid for buying my 2017 SR5 (18,000 miles) during early March for 24k thinking covid would drive used Tacoma prices down. I’m feeling pretty good about myself now. Hard to believe I can make money on it now.

That is insane. I got my 2020 DCOF in July for $42k out the door with all the extras.

I would think lower tax rates and lower energy costs would offset any temporary increases in materials along with relocating to areas with lower labor costs.

40k for an SR5. Lol. That’s nothing. How about a used 2018 TRD sport for 50k....now that’s mind blowing right there. True story, it’s still for sale at the dealer lot if anyone wants it  Prices on Tacoma's have gotten stupid.
