Fuck that shit. Someone doesn't show up here they ask if we want to stay and if not then the supervisor has to get on the truck.

Not here. Notice I'm up at 2:00 am?

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) we have to have a minimum of 7 Haz Mat Techs on duty at the station at all times. Everyone on the job is trained up to Operations level but the Techs are trained up to a level way beyond that. Now if you like the money then you can get, pretty much, as much as you want. I personally am not interested in spending more time here than I already do.

The way our OT system works is by the amount of hours offered to you. Every year that list resets to zero. I'm dead last on the list right now and when I get OT it's only at this station simply because I've had so many more hours offered to me than any non-tech Captains. Now where that becomes a problem is on days like today. There are only 3 Haz Mat Captains on the list each shift. OT was offered to the 2 Captains ahead of me and then me. I turned it down knowing that I was most likely going to get stuck here anyway but I took a gamble to work the system. They called the "off shift" Captains and (like I figured) they turned it down and that left me stuck here. The way I worked the system is by being "forced" to be here. If I would have "accepted" OT and taken off sick anytime during this pay period they would have kept my OT pay and just paid me straight time. Since I didn't "accept" OT and was forced into it, I now receive more OT pay per hour than regular OT (called holdover OT) and I get paid my OT whether I take off sick or not. So I'm getting paid more than OT, I can take off sick anytime during this pay period, and they can't do a damn thing about it. Honestly this happens very little and next time another Captain will have to take my place. Or... I can just say "I'm sick and should have gone home last night but I stayed". "But I can't stay for another 24hrs".

Oh... One other thing. I have no relief for tomorrow (today I suppose) but I can not be forced, or allowed for that matter, to work for another 24 hr period. That would put me at the station for 96 hrs straight. So I'm really interested to see what they do at shift change since no one will be here and I can't stay. Should be interesting.

Got to standby for a bit at a triathlon this morning. They were inflating the balloons this morning. They have a balloon festival every Labor Day weekend at Callaway Gardens.

Yep, got it to Fort Campbell, Kentucky using my AAA benifits which is about halfway home. Now have to figure out how to get it the last half.

What's the weight and size difference of the LS3 to the Toyota 1GR-FE? I would think the v8 once the front serpentine belt components + upgraded Radiator are added up it would be too long for the engine compartment.
