Anyone cut the cord around here? I am going to sign up for Playstation Vue and give DirecTV the boot.

About 1 1/2yrs ago. Bought 4 Apple TV's and never looked back. Dish was costing me $225 a month and I "might" have watched maybe 3-4 channels out of all of them. Now we just load the apps for whatever channel we want and only watch those channels. It's one of the better things that I've done in a long time. We pay about $30-$40 a month depending on how many movies we rent off of iTunes. We've got Netflix, HBO, Showtime, and as soon as they put Amazon Prime on there we'll have that also (although other than The Grand Tour there isn't a lot to watch on Amazon). Highly recommend it.

I should mention... I'm sure it's the same with other streaming devices out there also, but a lot of channels on Apple TV are free. Smithsonian channel is completely free and I was having to pay $15 a month extra with Dish just to get that channel (since it was bundled with shit channels I'd never watch). HGTV, which my wife watches all the time is free. Discovery channel is free along with a bunch of other channels like History Channel etc... So why would I ever go back to paying for them?

We decided to just go with streaming when we moved to AR a few months ago. I don't think my daughters even know what a TV channel is, and really the only time I watched was for major sporting events -- World Series, NFL playoffs, Stanley Cup. I don't miss those enough to hassle with figuring out how to stream them. Just not worth $120 per month on TOP of internet. We just went with 300Mbps internet and really haven't missed it.

Nice guys. I am going to go with Amazon Fire TV and Playstation Vue service. They seem to work the best together and get 60 FPS smoothness for watch sports. $45 per month and all the same channels including locals with a 28 day cloud DVR service and up to 5 devices at once. I think this will work without totally disrupting the apple cart and save me over $100 per month.

My daughter snagged me a $200 kitchen knife for $20 online. I do most of the cooking that actually requires cutting things up, and they all know how I like a good knife. For $20, even if it is average, that's not bad. That was the extent of the "Black Friday" shopping *that I am aware of*, but there's been a shit ton of packages arriving daily. We don't go out on Black Friday, although I took a quick trip to the bike shop to pick up my early xmas present to myself, just in time for some good weekend weather:

Good to know. I've wanted one for a while but didn't know if I would really use it. But for that price I figured why not?

My BF shopping is just Lowes and Home Depot. Got a $99 table saw and a $99 mobile stand for the planer. My GF stood in line at Tractor Supply for a gun safe for her brother. She ended up just buying it online while she was waiting for the doors to open. I guess everyone in line was there for that reason also.

I very seldom buy anything other than essentials at a brick and mortar store anymore. I'll buy groceries and the stuff we need to live but everything that I "want" I can generally find online for the same price or cheaper. Add to that, most of the things I buy online aren't taxed (as of yet) so there's always that. Speaking of taxes... It's kind of weird how Amazon has implemented charging taxes on certain items. Most of the things that I buy off of Amazon aren't taxed but every once in awhile something is. I just bought the Nest thermostat yesterday and it was taxed but I bought an iPad for my daughter for Christmas and it wasn't. So I don't know when they decide to charge tax and when they don't?

I get taxed purchasing things from Bass Pro because there happens to be one in my state...yet the stuff is shipped from Missouri.
