Honestly I’m just starting to learn how to use it. Small bowls, pens, spindles, Christmas ornaments, and junk like that. But I’ll post once I can find time to turn something from this wood. Water is pouring out of this stuff.
Do you have any suggestions on what’s the best parts to use? I saw you mentioned the root knots.

I think my kid is going to be an engineer of some sort. No interest whatsoever in sports but loves, and I mean loves shit that involves engineering.

What’s he want for his birthday? A 3D printer. What did he want for Christmas? A telescope.

We watched a show the other night on the building of the dome for the Chernobyl site and little man was glued to the TV the entire damn time.

The dry parts. It’s gonna need to dry out.

Around here, anything straight without knots makes good shakers, gavels, bowls, cups, or whatever. A friend of mine planes his into blocks, glued the blocks together, turns legs and and then makes butcher block tables.

Maybe yours will be dry in a year or two.

Apparently i’m in the wrong business.
Our AC crapped out Tuesday, variable speed blower motor died. Called, got an after hours visit from the dealer that installed unit 5 years ago.
had to order the motor, no big deal, i did ask if there was any way it could be rushed a bit, wife is on chemo, she has good and bad moments, mostly good, but the heat has its effect.

part came in, part is under warranty (10yr parts), guy comes back out to install, but before he does, he needs $885.....

For what ? the part and install.... the part is warrantied, what’s the labor...$885.....

heh, no way, of that had been the case and been said prior to your arrival, you’d never have been back....

looked up part on the googles....$235... looks like my Sunday is booked out.....

    shysters...

What a shitty way of doing business. He saw you were in desperate need of this A/C for your wife and would not cut you a deal to help Out? Report him to the local BBB. Post it on Facebook and everywhere you can think of that people will notice. Bet that won’t happen again.
Sorry for your poor situation. Not all A/C guys are like that.

actually the repair guy was put in the situation by his employer, he was actually pretty cool, i tried to not be mean to him, the guy on the phone, i wasn’t so nice, didn’t cuz, but let my feelings known.

i expected to pay labor, $2-300 and i’d have been ok, not the best but hey.

    being raked and reamed....no

“i had 5 people involved in getting that part to you today....” sorry, you don’t make the days payroll on one customer on a warranty repair. If i did that to my customers i’d be out of business. I get that warranty doesn’t pay well, it’s not supposed to, BUT you don’t jack up your labor to make the end and then file the warranty too.....can’t eat both ends of the sucker dude.....

I’m case no one was wondering what bad ass shit the Coast Guard is up to these days..

Stopping a shit ton of drugs by casually stepping onboard a semi submersible and banging on the hatch.

LOL, and you even taught her to give a fake name! "Um . . . . Jennifer" LOL.

Yeah, that ain't right. Had you already paid for the emergency visit? Those after-hour visits can be expensive, but if all they did was diagnose the problem, shouldn't be that high. And I've replaced those motors before (actually just the fan blades, but same operation), it doesn't take that long.

That actually looks like fun. Are those submersibles home-made? Crazy-ass smugglers.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
On the contrary the wet parts are better to turn. When you get your piece completed, place it in a paper bag. That will slow the drying process enough to where it won't crack.

The crotches make the best bowls.

the amusing part was i got a “How’d we do” text message soon as the guy left the driveway, Google reviews link, i clicked on it and it wouldn’t let me log into my Google account, coincidence ?

Screw ‘em, i’m waiting to see if i get billed for the return trip, if i do, it’ll be game on.
