Do you have it set up with a time machine? I have mine set to backup every hour. I have a 3TB Time Capsule that I use as our router for the house. Unfortunately Apple is getting out of the router business.

I do agree that it's silly to charge so much for ram. If the rumors are true about the new 16' MacBook Pro coming out this fall I'm still going to pick it up. I imagine that I'll end up with 32GB of ram so no telling how much that will cost me but oh well.

Back up your back up, my time machine crashed, similar happened to my dad, mine lost wifi connectivity, dads just crashed the HD and that was it. that’s been my biggest gripe other than not being able to ”customize”

Damn dude that sucks. Yours isn’t really that old either. I’m still going on the original battery. I’ve had to reset it once when it threw up the service battery message. It still lasts a good while on battery though so not too concerned about it. I took it in a while back to get it cleaned out because it was wanting to run hot. Dust will get all in the fan in there and cause that. The cord connection also broke loose at the same time. Not sure how that happened because it didn’t get dropped and I don’t see the magnetic connection pulling it enough to do it. They said it was broken on the motherboard. Dude quoted me some stupid amount to fix it. Then he found out I was a previous customer there and fixed it for me for free. I guess I should be preparing to get a new one since I can’t upgrade it to Mojave. Just kinda pissed ofnthe way they are making them now being non user serviceable. IE I can’t upgrade ram if I want to and have to pay their stupid price for it from the get go. Uugh

Mine is a mid 2015. I do wish they would allow for some customization to them. But the only way you can customize it is when you order it unfortunately. But in all honesty, I've not had an issue with 16GB's of ram. I probably need to take it to the Apple store and have it looked at. I've babied this thing since I bought it and I keep it clean but I'm sure the inside could use a good scrubbing. I haven't looked into swapping the battery out myself. Don't know if it's user serviceable or not?

Oh did you guys notice Apple quit making routers also? That pissed me off too because I love their routers. They look nice and easy to setup. I’ve gotten to where I just don’t want to fuck with setting shit up anymore. One of the nice things about having all Apple stuff in the house. It all just works and integrates perfectly with each other. My mom ended up getting the last Apple router in the area here about 8 months ago. I started out with a Airport Express and now I have the AirPort Extreme without the hd in it. I just didn’t trust it enough to use it for a time machine backup. I have mine on a separate drive. I probably need to get one for the iMac too but we really don’t keep anything on that one that would hurt to lose.

I think I remember them saying it was $250 to swap it out. Battery was $150 but you can find them online cheaper. I figured if mine ever needed it I’d just do it myself. It didn’t look hard at all on a 15” MacBook I replaced the hd on one time. I’m sure the 13” is pretty much the same.

I know they did tell me if I ever broke the Retina display to just go buy a new laptop because of the cost of just the screen alone.

I haven't looked to see how hard it is to replace it. Depending on the price I might just let them do it.

If you want a Time Capsule you can still pick one up. This is the 2TB one. The 3TB ones are all referbs and fuck that. I've never had any luck with referbs.

Uggh... I don't doubt that at all. Mine is a 15' so I'd imagine that if I cracked it I might as well throw it away. But, if they do release a 16' Pro I'll end up buying it because... well... you know me

Mines been pretty trouble free. :fingerscrossed:

If it’s still stuck by morning I’ll see if I can get a backup done or at least get what I need off it and grab a new drive and see if that fixes it.

    Brittfarticus!

You know I kinda figured I’d miss the bigger screen going to the 13” but I really don’t. I kinda like the smaller form factor and lighter weight of it. The iMac is a 27” so I have that if I really needed to do anything with a bigger screen. Hell youre already looking at over $2k for a 13” with 16 GB of ran. Jeeze.

They keep this shit up and they’re going to price their ass out of a lot of their customers budgets.

Sitting here at work again. I hate working Saturdays. Just downright un-American IMO.

On the bright side I am hunting again tonight. So there is that, hope I get the big sow or a couple boars.
