Clean the oil covered area, then start it up and look for the source of the leak.

I found an oil leak recently in the front end of my engine area, being spread by the fan and it ended up being the seal on the oil pan, on the frontside under the crankshaft pulley. I also ended up changing the crankshaft pulley seal just incase and the leak was coming from there as well and after that no more leak. Didn't want to mess with removing everything to get to the oil pan so I ended up using some sort of sealant to cover the leak for now and it has been holding up for now (few months). Hopefully this helps out!

I remember once upon a time reading something on a BMW forum. Their serpentine came off and ate up the crankshaft seal. Could be something as serious as that or something unrelated and simple.

Make sure the alternator has the correct pulley and alignment.

    That's one step.

Question is, why did the belt fail to begin with?

Check behind all pulleys, water pump and idler pulleys can do the same thing and start leaking later.
