It's just funny 'cause people say "hacked" (first that's on it's face the wrong word) when really nothing was broken into, someone managed to phish a password or a shitty default password was left in place somewhere and the keys to the system fell open.

Modern encryption/hashing is, for all reasonable purposes, relatively invincible as of today it's the weak moronic 300lb gorilla in the room who screws up time and time again.

Wow. Never knew about these sites. Mines been hacked like 8 times around different websites luckily on most that have no information anyways thankfully.

Edit: it was just my junk email that I use for forums and such. No big deal

    Might be worth mentioning:

If you used the same password on those sites that were hacked that you use on other sites (banking, forums, Hotmail/Gmail, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, etc) then you should immediately change the passwords on those other sites. Best practice is to not use the same password on multiple sites, for this exact reason.

ah, didn't try all form on that site.

so @tcBob in that case, If I have a unique pass for this site that's not used anywhere else, and no personal info on my profile (that can't easily be found on facebook), am I really at risk of anything?

Yeah you should be ok. So even if they got your password, it couldn't really be used anywhere else.

Some of those sites have adds and pop ups everywhere. I don't like that.
