Bought my Texass made ‘18 in November. Got a Toyota recall notice on the master cylinder three weeks ago. Made an appointment for the following week. 2 hour service. No problems.

Yeah, all 3rd gens built after Oct 15 suck. There were only about 5,000 of us that got a good one.

I traded it in for an 18. Its been great so far 14k in. No wobbles, no leaks, no suspension problems.

win win even though I lost a bit of coin..

Just wanted to chime in an update as well - my 2018 Texas built had the brake recall per the VIN# on Toyota's website. I was in for 5,000 mile service last week and casually mentioned it had a recall (I had not gotten the letter yet). Guy said you're in luck, they have the part and can do it right then and there. Said why not, and exactly 2 hours later it was done, even without an appointment.

Funny enough I got the recall notice in the mail the very next day.

The recall doesn’t apply to the OffRoad and Pro models because we have the Hydroboost master cylinder. If your truck has the standard master cylinder then it falls under the recall.

You won’t get one. You have a hydroboost master cylinder, the problem they are having is with the standard master cylinder

Yeah, have an 18 Sport and took mine in for the 20k service and asked about the brake recall. Said mine was one that needed the entire master cylinder replaced so had to order it.

Took my truck in for the recall today, took about 2 hours. But when I got it back, I definitely felt like I lost a substantial amount of brake pressure. Not even sure if they replaced the bad seal or the entire master cylinder itself. But my brakes suck now

Most ironic part was that when Toyota mailed me the recall letter, they said that if the part failed it would lead to an increase in stopping distance and a decrease in brake pressure. Maybe I would’ve been better off not getting it replaced. :notsure:

They should have replaced the complete master cylinder as per the notice.
Check your fluid level. I hope they bled the system and refilled with the right amount of fluid. When mine was done there was no difference in the feel, and I know the master cyl was replaced because I made some marks on the old one.

Went in for my 5k service on 3/11 and they ordered the part for the master cylinder recall. Part was delivered 3/12 and went in today to have it done. Only took 50 minutes. Faster than the 5k service.
