Good luck guys. As someone that employs ME's there IS a demand for them - and you can go to work designing some pretty cool stuff sometimes. I know a lot of Engineers end up getting stuck designing metal boxes for phone companies or something monotonous, but there's a BUNCH of things out there.

Everything you handle that's been manufactured has a print. The keyboard you're using, your mouse, knives, forks, whatever - they have been manufactured using tooling and designed parts.

The only thing is, most of it's manufactured overseas - but most of the enigneering is still done in the good 'ol US of A.

I work fuill time doing engineering stuff and I still have lots of freelance work on the side - most of my clients there are from China - they can build it, but they can't design it.

Another good option is Indutrial Design...

    Keep fighting the good fight!

Good luck on your exams. As an ME who will be graduating on Sunday I am going to tell you to stick with it. When I was looking for a job last September and October I got interviews from both manufacturing and mechanical engineering companies. I actually got offers at both types of companies. Stick with it. Right now the only graduating friends I have who have jobs right out of school are engineers. Oh and when you get to your senior year if you want to get a job instead of grad school go to the career fairs in September or around that time. It is a really good feeling having interviews and a job offer before thanksgiving and then being able to cruise through the rest of college. My friends who procrastinated are the ones having trouble.

The first page of this was like watching two people email back and forth. I thought it was funny.

No need to do a complete 48hrs w/o sleep. I didn't pull many all-nighters in college, but when I did I found that taking 20-min naps now and then made it MUCH easier. You won't be able to do it when you're all hopped-up on caffeine, but you'll probably find that it helps you focus a lot better than stimulants and you won't crash as hard afterwards.

    Either way, good luck!

+1- I did a 63 hour straight for work...but during that time I prepared a 125 page case package- and I was so amped up about the drug bust my team and I got I wasn't able to sleep anyways....

College I did some late nights and what not....but it was to complete/prepare projects more than to study...glad you managed to get some trim and a nap or two tho!!
