    Hey everyone

I'm looking to gets people's opinions on the price of a TRD off-road.

I am in no rush to get a Tacoma, but am actively looking since couple of my buddies go camping and overlanding.

I am 21 years old make 75K a year with 10% bonus at the end of the year. Plus contracted jobs which will hopefully bring me over 100k
I have been to a bunch of dealerships (socal) where they are charging 10k adjust over sticker for a TRD of road. I did find two, one in San Diego and another in Arizona where they are not charging any dealerships adjustment. And both end up around 48k OTD with sales tax and dealership fees ( I live in San Diego). The truck was at 46,800 and was able to bring it down to 43,800. but they will not budge on removing any add ons :(

Is this a good price? if not what would be good/okay price with todays Taco market? They both are just or basic Lunar TRD off- road 4×4 cloth seats with Add ons like mudguards, led lights, predator steps, tech package, etc . I don't mind the Add ons (rather not have them) they have but still curious is this a good price or would be a the most i should be paying or if should rather just wait and couple months.

if demand exceeds supply, MSRP is a fair deal.
maybe ask to pull the add-ons you dont want.
try to get a deal on oem parts you do want or need; spare filters, belt etc.
maybe bed mat or skid plate etc thrown in free or cheap.
not likely, but you can ask.

MSRP out the door is a good/fair price. This assumes you negotiated off MSRP and taxes, title, etc filled the gap. I would expect about $42-$45k OTD. I paid about $36k before TTT.

That said the market is messed up, demand exceeds supply, and we are on the edge of a recession and economic change. Now is the worst time to buy.

If I could tell my 21 year old self what to buy, I wouldn’t go over $25k for a vehicle based on your salary

First of all, welcome to TW. If you aren't in a hurry my suggestion would be wait. This is a crappy market to buy into if you don't have to. Also, with interest rates going up and the price of fuel where it is, my personal opinion is prices on trucks and SUVs will start to level off as demand starts to allow supply to catch up. They may be selling at MSRP but I guarantee you those add ons are probably marked up 2-3 times what they should actually sell for. The other day I was at my dealership getting my wife's car serviced and they had side steps added to a Tundra that were stickered at $2,995.00. At most they should sell for $6-700. If they aren't getting you in one place they are getting you somewhere else.

You’re young, be ready to take a flight to get what you need and drive it back. I paid $38,300 on Saturday for the exact same truck (pre tax) … take a day off from work, book a flight and drive it home…. Easy 10k savings

i flew from New York to Ohio and drove it back

Yeah don't be afraid to look out of state. I bought my truck from Arizona and it was super easy as the dealership dealt with shipping vehicles all the time.

58%... I will be financing the vehicle with 20% down and a 4 year loan, I also do side jobs being a network engineer at the end of the year i am looking to make over 100k if all goes well. This is the only reason I am looking into getting a new car i drive a 2003 taco ,company pays for my rent & phone. pretty much my only out of pocket payment is insurance and food, no student loans and most utilities are written off due to my apartment being my "office" for my contracted jobs.

Not much of a financially burden just looking to get a good deal.

    Oh look, another mod....
The bottom line is: It's your money, spend it how you want (or don't want). Don't ask a bunch of random's on the internet to influence your decisions.

I’d let ridiculously high fuel prices and a looming economy crash, bring prices back down.

Seems way high to me. Not sure what taxes should be in SoCal, but I was looking at just over $41,500 out the door for a TRD OR in Oregon (no sales tax) earlier this month before deciding to go with a TRD Sport instead. The only add-ons were:
    - All-weather floor mats
    - Predator Tube Steps
    - Tailgate inserts

MSRP on that vehicle is 38,465, and delivery/processing at my dealership was $1.2k. Mats, Tube Steps, and Tailgate insert were another $1k. Not sure where the other few grand is coming from on your vehicle.

If you are defending your position to make a purchase then no reason to come to a forum and ask our opinion.

At 75k, your take home pay is probably closer to 60k. Minus 19.5k for 401k contribution and $6k for Roth your looking at about $34.5k in take home a year. 20% down on a 48k loan leaves you with an $850 car payment for 4 years. OR 30% of your take home pay. 30% is generally attributed to mortgages not car loans..

He said he's a network engineer on the side to he does IT. IT is still treated somewhat like a trade so certifications are desired over degrees.

$75k is a common entry level salary.

Damn rent alone is about 1800 to 2800 a month in San Diego for a studio/one bedroom so if your company pays that plus your 75k salary that's like making another 20k.

Did you check out longo toyota in El monte they do msrp
