Big first purchase is going to be a cat shield; theft is pretty rampant in the desert southwest!

i started selling Toyotas in Killeen, TX in 1968 or 1969, believe it was 1968 at a Olds/GMC store taking on Toyota. We didn’t discount a dime and they were $1100 and standard transmission only. We could add radio and rear steel with our name bumpers only at first. Seems like the bumper was $69 and the radio was slightly more. Later air conditioning. Even later 4wd conversions that was nearly the price of the truck.
We were at the largest military base in the world Fort Hood Texas and barely 20 years after the War. Tough sells. Lots of: “I won’t buy one of those rice burners”.
    Keep that Hi Lux.

Thank you! I still have the manuals and build sheet from when it first was sold!

Sold in Santa Cruz, the original owner wrote their name on the back of the owners manual as well.

Hp is 97. Wow and people think this new one is underpowered. We were a Olds/GMC dealer when we took on Toyota and nobody was worried about that 97hp.

just received my 2023 Serial number a few minutes ago. I’m really looking forward to this.

Exactly, so when people say the 2.7L is slow, it can not be too bad, the hilux is slooooooooowwwwwww. I dont think i have had it above 55 purely because it never gets on the interstate and never has enough room to get going in the city!

Awesome! Mine is built and sitting waiting to be shipped. Luckily I live in Southern New Mexico. so once it is in Long Beach, its a far shorter drive.

Which would you pick to haul as much firewood as it will hold. I need the 4x4 to get to the wood, but just curious if you think the 4cylinder would be up for the hauling once on paved roads.

The 4 cylinder can probably handle a full load of fire wood on paved roads. Its not going to break any speed records and I would suspect you will feel it struggle a bit getting up to speed, but the 4 cylinder is quite capable at doing a lot of things. If you haul several loads of firewood a year, then the 4 cylinder should be fine. If you haul firewood for a living or to supplement your income (for sale), then you should probably go with the 6 cylinder. Again, it just depends on how you intend to use it.

Congratulations betting you love it. Really enjoying mine. Way more power than i was thinking. Last week i had seat heaters installed under the fabric. Also had the Undercover Elite bed cover put on. Did not go the paint match white and saved enough to cover the seat heaters that are great. Talked to the people in San Antonio with Lock’er Up and have a console safe due here mid January (seems very easy that i can install).
Now just deciding if (they seem to be fine) i need fog lights or goose up the lights on the headlights or leave the hell alone. Not much night driving.
Same on the outside mirrors if go with RAV4 glass or another covered glass or nothing.

Only been a few days, but love it. So well made. Yeah I was expecting a slug, so far, I have actually had to check my speed multiple times because I am going too fast! On the way home there was a decent mountain pass, coming from 4000 to a bit over 5300 and I didnt have to do much to get the truck going. stayed in cruise control and passed a slower vehicle too. I think modern car drivers are used to everything having 250 plus horse power, this truck has enough HP to get daily tasks done. At most I pull a small lowes trailer with an arcade or piece of furniture in it. If I needed more, I would have purchased a different vehicle.

About the only thing aside from getting so storage/organization for the cab, is I need to get the cat shield. After that a locking center console is on the docket.

Glad to see yours is treating you right!

they give Veterans discount. This is what i ordered.
My 4Runner came with the Distributor added safe.
The 2014 Tacoma i had added a TUFFY CONSOLE SAFE (it was the lightest metal safe). But lasted 10 years and no problem.
When traveling i always pull the gun to take to the room. Otherwise it’s in the safe.
Did decide not to install trailer hitch. The 4Runner has one if needed.

If I didn’t need a 4wd I’d rock one of these all day long. I’m not sure what the current market is for one but they have to be a great value buy. Bullet proof 2.7 and 2wd. They look great and will last forever.
