I haven't even started to troll yet. The 4cyl is just slow. I'm sure it's fine for many and it seems to maintain speed okay but wow to get to speed is like taking an eternity and forget it if going up an incline or merging.

Now, if one has never driven a vehicle with normal power then yeah, one would never know what was missing.

Most of those boards are 20' and wet. 4 bangers suck. 5 years of this kind of use and I went 80k on front brakes. Oil/filter changes, drive shaft lubing every 10k air filters every 30 and thats it. it just works.
I bought a 4 banger because I want to use it as a truck everyday and not worry about it. Not race Tesla roadsters at the freeway on ramp.

    Nice looking truck.

The maintenance on the V6 isn't much different. If you're doing the maintenance yourself, the point it moot.

Probably gonna be a controversial take but I have the 6'er and have driven the 4banger. Can hardly tell a difference. They seem equally as slow.

Who buys a tacoma to go fast lmao

I would also think this is a bad ass setup. Also more torque at take off

Not sure why people get so upset about op comments. I’ve both own and both got job done. I also do agree 4 cyl had trouble moving in highway passing and entering hwy. will it get the job done yes. Would I go 4cyl again NO.

Geez, i said the same after a test drive in one when looking for my tacoma. It went downhill good, not so well going back up. I wanted to whip this thing. I was previously driving a 4.7 v8 tundra, so that didn't help.

My 4 banger 2015 is used as a truck and has had over capacity loads many times so it is not a toy unlike most of your 4 door short box play toys. I tried out a new Tacoma with 3.5 and told salesman it was a gutless wonder so I guess nobody should buy a Tacoma for performance. You had to put pedal halfway to the floor just to get moving and shifted constantly . I personally would never buy a small truck with a V-6 as you can get a full sized with loads more power and better fuel economy for the same price and they would say the same about your V-6 being a child's toy.

I haven't driven the 3.5, I hear the pedal commander solves the throttle response problem.

People get butthurt and start to feel insecure if someone doesn't like a product they have. :bored:

    Lol.

Not right now, sold my beloved taco about a month ago. I am moving to Guam. I'll get a new one there. Definitely won't be a 2.7 though. I might get a 4 runner though, haven't decided.

I'm insecure, or you're just projecting. Who knows really, let's let the readers decide.

I have a 2020 SR double cab 4 cylinder and at first I also thought it was too slow. After the first oil change I noticed the acceleration has became better. I don't find any problems getting on step in the city. I find that using ECT is better for the highway.

I've had 4 cylinder toyota 4x4 compact pickups in the past, and they were always gutless, and drank fuel loaded up. Now with having this v6 i feel i finally got a good combination of power, and economy. I get 19 mpg towing my boat with enough power when called on. It'd be a joke with the 4 cylinder version having to scream the guts out of the truck, while likely getting worse fuel economy. I would kept my old v8 tundra, but that truck couldn't pass a gas station. Didn't matter whether towing my 2k lb boat, or just riding to work. 14.5 mpg average was about it.
