They go fast here. Then I saw the chizzler that got it driving around town last night. Damn nice little truck.

I know you just lost on the last one but I thought I'd add my .02 anyway. I have a 2004 RC 2.7 5 speed 4X4 and I love it. They require almost no maintenance except for fluid changes. Mine averages 19 mpg no matter what I do unless I spend an entire day crawling around in the mountains. The 2.7 is gutless. I just took a 400+ mile trip in mine. I have about 500lbs loaded in it most all the time with the shell and sand bags for winter. I got 21.5 mpg running 75 to 80 mph. Since I l've in Wyoming there is no way to head in any direction and not run into a 7% grade. With it floored in 5th gear I was able to do 60 mph up the long 7% grades I went over on this trip I did yesterday and today with roughly 500lbs on the truck counting the shell, sandbags etc.,etc. With more weight and longer grades expect to drop into 4th and rev it. Actually, I think I used 4th on one or two by the time I got towards the top. Living in Texas? I really doubt you'll have to worry about maintaining 75 with a 2.7 very often if at all. I've driven all over Texas and yeah, you've got some grades but I wouldn't worry about it. I'm also 6'2" and I've taken close to 1500 mile trips in it and I will admit, there isn't a whole lot of room but It's comfortable enough. I'm getting ready for another 1500+ mile trip in May.

For a daily driver and a weekend offroader I can't think of a better vehicle. Mine has a little over 158,000 on it and it's had one battery replaced under warranty at 20,000 miles, another battery at 60,000, the water pump replaced under warranty at around 60,000 miles, one brake job and when I bought it from my dad, the original owner, I replaced all the crappy, worn out stock suspension. That's all it's had since it was new besides regular fluid changes. It's just about time for another battery though. This one is now over 5 years old.

Yea it really would have been perfect. Damn near like an enclosed 4 wheeler. looks like I'm going second gen though. Found an 09 dcsb for pretty reasonable. I'll be joining the storm trooper thread over there.

Ha ha. It's at the dealership I do all my business with. I told him I'd take it yesterday. They are putting new brakes, front wheel bearings etc on. Should be good to go.

I had a bad ignition coil last week while I was in Utah on a road trip. Swapped it out with a new one (Denso from Toyota), and my mileage had a significant increase. I was getting around 300 miles per tank. After the swap, I was getting almost 400. Seems crazy, and I was shocked. With the first full tank after putting in the new coil, I noticed at half a tank I had gone just over 200 ,miles. At first I was like "Bullshit! No way!" But it was pretty consistent the rest of the trip. Also...the truck ran much smoother.

I am thinking of replacing the other 3 coils, and replacing all 4 spark plugs to see how my mpg changes.

I have a 2009 4x4 2.7l 5 speed manual. I have to use restraint to keep it from going faster than 70 mph. I have no complaints about the power.
