the shifter yes I miss it, but you went a little to far with the lock in hubs. I DO NOT miss having to get out in the mud and rain to lock the hubs in....

Ha ha! I would have window cranks instead of this automatic shit if I had the choice. Keep it simple. I never had a problem being out in the freezing rain and snow while on REFORGER. But, that's just me.

I just hit 30K miles and switching to 4H even when stopped typically has issues. The light flashes and I usually have to switch to reverse and back to drive before it engages. I have shifted back to 2H while moving very slowly and it was a rough transition and the truck bucked.... is this just a warning to change gear oil in transfer case as well as front and rear diff? or am I looking at a bigger issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    ID10T error.

FWIW. Take a little time to review the Owner's Manual for your truck. If that is inconvenient, then there is a placard on the driver's sun visor with instructions.

IN/OUT of 4L is Stop, N, switch from 4H to 4L. Same going from 4L to 4H. At least for 2nd Gens. 3rd Gens maybe a little different.
IN/OUT of 2H to 4H is limited to a speed <60 mph. Easy if the drivetrain is unloaded. Just ease off the throttle a little while driving straight.

The system is unable to jump from 2H to 4L in one step. It needs to shift into 4H before 4L.

You should generally be moving when shifting to 4H, otherwise the gears may not line up and it won't shift. Just be sure to be off the throttle when shifting in and out of 4H for good measure.
