Well... my only body ding is in the back corner, under the bumper ... happened on the Mission Santa Maria trip, in fact... I have replaced the bumper since then...

Happened after this photo, in that spot (drop off)... (see my truck in the distance?)... I just came off that ledge wrong and dropped down on the back corner, pulling my (peeling my) bumper away from the truck as I slowly dropped down into the gully (I was being guided, by-the-way, as I could not see the ground in front of me, as it dropped off so steeply.)!

    MisionSM2010bajatripper063_983ab2aa493ce139556f190ca576649059dbaae7.jpg

With a come along, was able to get it back close to the body...

On our 10-15-2011 SoCal Tacoma desert run, it was kind of good to see I wasn't alone with this sort of thing!:

    Back in November:
Hooked that rock at the bottom of the pic just barely...
Same trail not even 5 minutes later!! Got the other side on a rock...

Several months later (just a couple weekends ago) Same trail I drug the rear bumper pretty much all day long. haha. End result: Wannabe Spoiler!

The rear bumper is surprisingly flimsy... Have a steel plate bumper coming soon luckily:woot:

Wow, good job at grading the trail with your bumper!!!... Too bad our truck's rear overhang is too long for the trails we run!

Using the Horizon as a baseline for your image, that is about the 30 degree average, or that HIst8ofMIND is stating that the trail is...

With gravel roads and 50 degree spots...

By comparison, boat ramps are usually between 12-15 degree grade...or between 26 and 33 percent grade...

Imagine almost doubling the slope in that picture...

Just so I have this straight, my TRD Sport comes with a rear diff lock. Is that what you mean by lockers? I realize these can be aftermarket add ons but I'm guessing the front does not come with a diff lock stock and I doubt I will rock crawling enough to justify it...But who knows.

I may not have much experience off roading in a truck, but I have lots of experience off roading in a slammed Integra. lol Seriously, the stuff I used to take that that car over most people wouldn't do in a 4x4. I once drove 16 hours across the worst logging roads British Columbia has to offer. Yes, absolutely flattened my exhaust ;) But it was unbelievable what that Acura could go over with enough speed and momentum. he he A true testament to the build quality of those vehicles cuz that would have destroyed almost any other car. Can't wait to try it in a vehicle that's actually made for it.

Unfortunately the sport doesn't come with a locker. Only the TRD Offroad come from the factory with a rear locker and yes all front lockers for Tacomas are aftermarket. Oh and yes I mean diff lock when I say locker.

I've done a fee gnarly things in my little hyundai accent that people in 4x4's passed up. Haha although nothing as gnarly as what you have done it sounds like. Haha and my hyundai isn't slammed. Haha

I don't know if it's different in the US but, my TRD Sport does come with a rear diff lock. We don't have the "Off Road" Option here in Canada. It's Base, SR5, TRD Sport (Comes with skewp, rear diff lock, 3+1 leafs, Bilsteins ect) And Limited. (Which from what I can tell is an SR5 with chrome rims and bumpers lol)

But yeah, I definitely have rear diff lock. :)

No you don't have a diff lock in a Sport , and yes , you can get an Offroad in Canada , just not in a double cab

See? This is why I love Tacoma World. :) I stand corrected!

If and when I ever deem it necessary, whats the best route to go for the rear diff lock. Can you just buy and install the factory toyota one? Or is aftermarket recommended. Thanks!

Do you have pics of the rear diff lock? Like of the dash button and the front side of the rear diff so we can see if the actuator is there?

I know a lot changed on the 12's and 13's but I don't think that was one of the changes.

OFF ROAD TRD = Rear Locker 1990's to today
SPORT TRD 2005-2008 = Limited slip rear diff.
ALL TACOS 2009+ = TRAC/AUTO LSD traction control limited slip.
Sport TRDs have no additional traction systems after 2008, than standard Tacomas.
