4LO-Trac & ABS Kill Switch - Why/Why Not?

I was looking under the dash and it seems like the plugs are situated differently. Can anyone tell me where the abs wire is on the 3rd gen? I think I know which one it is but I'm not 100% sure

If I remember right, ABS kill on this thread is mostly just the matter of disconnecting a wire. If you think you know the wire, disconnect it, run the truck for a few minutes for testing, and either you were right or wrong.

Yea I'll probably wind up doing that. Just have to wait for it to warm up a bit...

 

You don't have to run the truck - just turn the key to the "ON" position.

If the ABS is disabled, your dash will light up like a Christmas tree.

 

It wouldn't be just the ABS light?

 

Traction control lights also.

So I have an 06 prerunner (auto lsd diff) sport just to be clear. After following this perfectly, I tried turning it on and cycling the switch, and no light on the dash came on.

So I thought maybe it's a bad switch and permanently on, so I took off one of the wires and turned the truck back on since I would know the connection would be off, and still no light.

Any thoughts?

 

Gunna do this this weekend but on the yellow wire mod do you just pull it out or could you do what you do to the abs and have a switch for it?

Which one? I did the yellow wire (Trac) mod in my 2012. I have seen the abs kill switch in 2012s too, but I haven't tackled it myself

 

I did the YWM on my 2015,

It's switched and works great.

 

I have done both on a 14. No issues.

 

What did you use to connect wires to this

 

Those terminals are pretty small and best suited to soldering the wires onto them, with heat shrink added before by slipping it over the wire, then back down over your solder job that way there is no chance of them shorting out.

You might be able to get a smaller lug terminal on them but it isn't really what it was designed for.

If it's all you have go for it. In this case the connecting of those wires just puts the truck back into the OEM wiring condition.

Hey guys. So the previous owner did the abs kill switch on my truck. When I push the button the abs light comes on and it seems to work. The question I have is my "trac off" light also comes on (as if I hit the vsc button) and the traction control squiglies also come on. I notice in the video on the first page that did not happen.

So basically, when I disable the abs, am I losing the trac function and the light comes on just because, or is my trac off light coming on because with abs off I get the stronger "engine unregulated" trac. Did he wire it so abs goes off and the better trac comes on?

 

My 2012 has the same lights come on. ABS kill switch also kills TRAC and VSC, you don't get any of the electronic braking/traction aids.

Just did the ABS kill switch mod(first one) worked like a charm...im fucking stoked i wont get killed this winter with that nightmare ABS system..must be the lift kit with monster 35's on there that throws the system out of wack,its super sensitive and wants to lock up with slightest braking..
i actually made a copy of this thread and filed it away for future reference this mod is so fucking awesome,,big time thank you to the crew that made this possible..
