was hunting in the mountain and using 4lo for some bad part of the trail. got to the easy part and try to turn off 4 wheel drive. nothing happen beside the green light turning off, but the traction light was still on and the 4lo was blinking. try different thing for 30 minutes but it won't disengage. turning the 4 wheel nob do nothing. so my hunting partner drive 3 hour back home to pick up my brother tundra and a trailer to come get me. while waiting to 6 hours for him to come back i try to get it out , but it was still in 4lo. got home 30 minutes ago. going to call for roadside assistance to come tow my truck in the morning to the dealer. Anyone had this issue before?

You need to stop and think about all the good things that happen in 4WD. When you're in 4WD you smile don't you?

You can't just expect your truck to "want" to shift back in to 2WD... you have to want it too. But you don't really want it do you? Your life is stressing you out... your boss is irritating, your wife is just like every other wife. I'm sure she's beautiful, just like my wife .. and his wife.. and his wife. You got bills to pay. I bet most days you even have to get up earlier than you want, you're out of TP, someone drank your last beer.. why? Because 2WD, that's why.

You're truck is talking to you man, you need more 4WD. You need the freedom, the fun, the adventures... you need the faeries at the top of the mountain.

You deserve it. Just go man, the truck will find 2WD when you're ready for it.

You bought a Toyota... it knows you man. It knows you.

i try all that. usually when i have it in 4lo the green 4 wheel light come on to, but it off and the 4lo is nursing blinking . plus turning to 4 wheel nob doesn't do anything and it doesn't make a noise that i usually hear. it there a fuse that control that 4 wheel nob, maybe it die

I remember seeing this problem on another third gen a while back. The dealership ended up having to replace the entire transfer case. Just an FYI.

I'm guessing the actuator is stuck or the transfer case took a crap. Good luck

I can only go into and out of 4Lo in Neutral. Go into neutral, press the brake pedal. Then switch from 4Lo to 4Hi.

Good luck! Does the 3rd gen use a gear or chain T-case?

Same. I always stop, put it in neutral, and go to lo or hi. You can't change in/out of 4lo while moving due to the nature of the system.

Really wish these had a manual transfer case.
