    Good points but I must disagree with you on coming to a stop before shifting an ADD system. My Tacoma needs to be moving for the 4x4 engaged.

    I run A LOT of gravel and sand roads. Once all 4 tires hit loose ground and I'm going between 10-20mph, I can shift into 4hi without any clunk. Very smooth shifting.

    As far as 4hi to 4lo, I come to a complete stop, shift to N, then into 4lo, then back into gear. No issues and smooth shifting.
