    thanks for the clarification guys.

Isthatahemi, could you elaborate on your 1000ohm resistance with a ground to stop the flashing light???

Here is a video of the yellow wire mod in action(4lo). You can see that the wheels spin and then the TRAC kicks in and the truck just goes. I couldnt make it taking that line with the TRAC turned off, i would just start spinning and roll backwards.

AWESOME VID!! Exactly my experience, an obstacle where I would actually roll backwards, would become climbable!

    As for the resistor question....

I think if you take an ohmeter, test each side of the cut wire for voltage, the one with 0V, test resistance from that point to a good grounding point, install a resistor between that wire and ground.

why did toyota not do this from the factory? there has to be a reason. this all sounds good ( and i am pissed as hell about 4low operating with open diffs) but what is the drawback? thanks

New guy here. Just picked my reg cab 4x4 this last weekend.

Just did the tailgate hose clamp mod... next is this. (This needs to be added to the giant mod list.)

Trac should really come default from the factory for all 3 modes, not just 2.

One reason Toyota disables trac in 4lo: They can't up-sale you to the larger cab and TRD package which includes the more robust a-trac for $9000+.

I thought the LSD was a typical lsd when i bought the truck. Typical clutch type lsd works all the time. The stupid sales people didnt even know the truck had lsd and actually argued with me saying the lsd was only in the sport model. I was really disappointed to get home and read the owners manual saying lsd disengages in 4lo...

now i love the system. it actually works better than clutch type IMHO it is more instant and seems stronger than clutch type and there is no special maintanence required

    :) little did they know.

I half suspect it's engineered for all speeds. But for $$$ reasons Toyota wants to sell you the more robust a-trac as part of the trd package....lol which they don't even sale for our cab size.

I'd like to try this mod.... but I'd like to know if it's possible to pull out the wire instead of cutting it??? I would pull it out so it doesn't make contact but it would not appear to be removed... (If that is possible) I don't want to cut it because with my luck.. I'll probably have some sort of an issue or problem that involves the toyota tech to work under the dash and I don't want it to be noticeable.. I don't want my warranty to be voided for playing with my truck's electrical.

    Thanks

    Here we go, it's on page 8. You'll need a tiny jeweler's flat-head.

It works the same as 4hi in the mud. Stock TRAC works in 4hi not 4lo. This mod allows TRAC in 4 lo
