I know the last solid front 4runner axle was 1985.
I would like to know the year of last fully-mechanical front axle...that is, no vacuum or electric axle actuator.

And, the last year for the mechanical-shifting transfer case.

    Thanks,

    Roy

2021 still has full mechanical front diffs on limited models, but you are thinking a 1995 2nd gen with the last simple front diff and simple tcase.

Some 1996+ 4banger 4x4's dont have ADD's but its rare.

Thanks for the reply. But, I don't fully understand what you wrote.

So, first and second gen (1984 to 1994) all had mechanical-shift t-cases and no front axle vacuum/electric actuator. Right?

Third gen (95-01)...there is a mix? Depending on motor, transmission, trim?

You say, 5th gen with the Limited package have no front axle actuator?

    Pretty much you got it.

All 3rd gen v6s had ADD's on 4x4 and a 4x4 actuator on the tcase.

    Some 3rd gen 4 bangers had ADD's Some didn't.

All 4runner limiteds 3-5 gen do not use ADD due to full time 4x4.

On the 3rd gen I4...is the difference AT versus 5-speed or base versus SR5? Or, what?

Can you describe this full-time deal? Do the front axles, front diff, and front shaft turn all the time?
