Getting prices of about $36K for an Off-Road Premium and $38K with KDSS. Thinking about making the switch to a 4runner but hesitant.

Should I jump on this? or stick with my 17 Taco OR

Based on what I've seen with the Tacos I sure won't be buying a first year or two of a redesign of any Toyota. Perhaps if the 4Runner continues to be designed and built in Japan it could be a different story but the Tacos were not ready for primetime in 2015 or 16. period

I traded in my 16 Taco in for an 18 4runner....just could not deal with the transmission shifting and decided not to invest in the tune.

Drove the 4runner OR and was sold immediately. My only critique is as others mentioned,is the dated interior. Miss the Taco's gauge cluster info screen and larger entune. Other than that....havent looked back.

I had the TSB done on mine and it improved. Don’t need to drive with ETC on all the time. I would’ve strongly suggested to look into it before making the jump! Hwobder you have another nice rig. Absolutely love the style. Just want to confirm, I was told the OR doesn’t have a third row seat, is this true?

I have given thoughts to a 4runner Pro. On the subject of the next gen 4runner and a 3.5 I would be hesitant. A coworker bought a 2018 Highlander with the 3.5. For those thinking the Tacoma has some issues mine is 1000% better than that Highlander. He has had that thing in the shop frequently due to transmission and eco mode problems. Been complaining for 6 months that it has no power in any mode. In eco the thing tachs up to 3500 to shift. That is not how you save fuel mileage. I would be afraid Toyota would hose up the tune on a 3.5 4runner to boost epa ratings as they did the Tacoma. Now mine runs very well and shifts good. I plan on getting the newest update eventually. My complaints with the current 4runner are poor mpg with the great 4.0 and the outdated interior. But what else is there for comparison. Nothing really.

Odd, i have an 18 highlander. it's nothing special, just the weekend family hauler and for road trips. it has a similar shift logic to the tacoma but with 8 gears and a much more insulated interior an softer motor mounts, i don't hear or feel the shifts. plus the gearing is well spaced and the throttle control is better.

i average 21-22 but usually run 87 mixed with ethanol. thinking of moving to 91.

This guy is seriously scared to get on the interstate because it is so slow trying to merge. He either has a lemon or needs a serious transmission flash. I cannot judge because I don't know anyone else with this gen highlander.

that has to be a lemon. mine is quick. even half throttle it downshifts and scoots. mine's a lease though and i'll probably turn it in when it's up as it's just meh and doesn't have any cool features. but so far rock solid reliability besides one rattle in the b-pillar that annoys me.

Interesting to see those sales numbers. I wonder how much they have to do with all the other manufacturers making their offerings into cars? Toyota markets their 4runners and Tacos as lifestyle vehicles, it would be a shame to see it watered down. I was recently in Australia and just about snapped my neck when a Fortuner went by. Also saw lots of Rangers there, boy are those going to cut into the Tacoma's numbers when they come out here.

The overseas Rangers are rated excellent. A lot of those are diesel engines. Don't think the gas versions will be as competitive with Tacoma. Will be nice for Taco buyers to have something for comparison. If Nissan would upgrade the ancient Frontier we might have a competitive small truck market again.
