Will 1999 4Runner bucket seats fit into a 1998 Tacoma?

yes, three of the 4 holes will align the furthest back hole on the rail on the control side of the seat will not line up. I drilled a hole, welded a nut to a plate then welded the plate the the underside of the truck to reinforce it but you could simply drill a hole and use a large washer on the bottom and then a nut to tighten it down

Could you post pics? Any chance you know if this would work in a 2002?

Unfortunately these were the only pics I took. Since 2002 seats will bolt in a 95.5 I would assume the process mentioned above would work for 95.5-2004

Something else I would like to clarify that I failed to mention. The seat belts on my 95.5 would not click into the ones mounted on the 99 4runner seats. I grabbed the seat belts out of the 4 runner as well so it was not a big issue for me. I am not sure if a later tacoma seat belt, like identical year would clip right in but if not I am sure you could just change the seat belt receptors on the seat with your factory tacoma ones

First I have personally heard of anyone having to drill a hole to fit 3rd Gen 4runner seats. Everyone always says "plug n play". Wonder if it varies between the 3 different 1st Gen series (95.5-97,98-00,01-04) for fitment.

Not positive but it seems like ive always noticed a runner seat swap required a lil drill work...

I don't believe people when they say its a complete bolt-in no fab required, for 3 of the four bolts yes, but that fourth seat foot is probably an inch away from the where it bolts up to the cab. at least it was in my 1998 tacoma and 1997 4runner seats.

a buddy helped me install 3rd gen runner seats in my tacoma and it was pretty straightforward but used a welder

we simply grinded down the edges on the fourth seat rail foot so that we could weld a small (2"x2") piece of flat steel plate to the bottom of it. we then installed the seat with the 3 matching bolt holes and then, using a drill with good sharp bits, drilled up (through the existing bolt hole in the floor or the cab so the holes would line up) through the flat steel plate. threaded the bolt into the stock mount and viola. essentially, we just "extended" the fourth seat rail foot so it would reach the stock mounting point for the tacoma cab and that was that.

if you don't have a welder you could maybe just drill a hole through the floor of the cab if you were so inclined. the way mine is done, i didnt have to modify my truck at all and could easily swap back to stock tacoma seats if needed.

swapping the seat belt clips was required, so i took the ones off my taco buckets and switched them with the 4runner ones, that part only took a couple of minutes

I just did this recently on my 99. Seats from 98 limited. Sport and limited have lumbar and butt height adjustment i think, other models may not. Go for the leather if you can find them. All holes on driver side lined up, just had to hammer the front mounts closer to 90 degrees to make them fit the rail on the Taco. Pass side outboard rear hole did not line up, you need to drill or fab a bracket like the poster above did. Here is a pic with them installed and one showing how far off the 1 hole is. Also got the console because it was nearly the same height as the top of the shifter because the stupid 60/40 bench armrest was garbage. tmp_26548-20161219_1644171484477493.jpg tmp_26548-20161013_173709-1672442345.jpg

I was available to install mazda RX8 seats. You only need to fab 1 bracket on each seat...

Planning to get 8 grade bolts this weekend and bigger back plate...

Best mod in my truck now...

Hello, I'm here to bump this thread! I have an 04 Tacoma regular cab, and want to see if bucket seats from a 04 4runnercan be installed. I have what it takes to drill a new hole for bolts, but can this be done without welding? I have a friend that could possible help with that but I was wondering if a new hole and a solid bolt will achieve the same result.

    Thanks
