Just pulled 2 side mirrors of 2 different 1996 4runners from the junk yard. Painted them, bolted them on my 2004 Tacoma, stood back to admire and noticed they are not symmetrical. Normal or 2 different mirrors??

It's not that, that's the first thing I thought when I seen it. Everything is flush and open fully. I'm not sure if they have 2 mirror styles or if this is just how they look.

How are you that both mirrors are OEM?

Unless your driving position is along the centerline of the vehicle, the passenger side mirror has to be angled in more than the driver's mirror.

I'm not, but both seem to be. Not a lot of markings on either and I didn't see any differences when I looked. Just the tilted in angle.

I want to see what other people who did this mirror swop have seen.

I didn't notice any differences when I did mine. The bottom of the mirror plastic should say "Toyota" with some other stuff if they're OEM.

This is correct. The passenger mirror is physically angled more to account for your driving position being further from it.

I installed power folding hilux surf (japan-right hand drive) mirrors on my truck and needed to swap the mounts from the US version onto them to make the angles right.

Did you swap for the angle or to remove the angle? I feel like with the angled frame the glass is tilted more then usual to correct it. Wondering if I should go back to the junk yard. I took these 2 because they had glass, the other sides were both there, just with broken glass.

I swapped because the angles were opposite because they were designed for a right hand drive vehicle. I couldn't adjust the mirror glass enough to see the side of the truck. Also the power fold on the driver mirror would hit the window glass when folded in.

Your install is correct, getting another mirror from the junkyard will yield the same result.
