Interesting. I didn't get one. Also I contacted them via 'Contact' tab, still no reply. I think I'll have to call them at some point

One of those would be nice, but I'd just break my neck. I use my truck as a truck way too much.

Where is our trip page from last year? I can't find it at all.

I'm not sure if I'm going to make it this time.

Well that's a bummer, no more Blackout 14?
I liked that guy, hope things are going well for him and his family.
Been awhile since I've been on TW.
I know he had some problems awhile ago, I just hope things have changed for the better.

Hey all, drive a 2018 TRD OR and planning to check this event out. So far I've only put a steel high clearance bumper on the back, ordered a steel high clearance bumper for the front, who knows if it will arrive prior to this invasion. Haven't done any serious off roading with this truck yet so had a couple questions.

How risky is it to run this event without skids, rails or a lift? Out of those 3 improvements, which one do you think is the biggest priority or a must have? I'm trying to get a buddy to join me with his jeep so we can help each other with any recovery, but how risky is it to go solo?

I'm also planning to go up to AOAA next Sunday to check it out.

I'd put a front oil pan/diff skid on the top of the list. then rock sliders. Check out @Mobtown Offroad for a skid set.

AOAA has lots of trails you can do safely in a totally stock truck. And you can see many of the harder trails from there to see what you're getting into.

You should always have a second vehicle (or more) on the trail with you though. Both AOAA policy and prudence require it. Stuck, broken, or just having a spotter is a very good idea.

There will definitely be other jeeps there too, there's about a 50% chance I'll be driving mine...

Damn! Hope all is well. I was wondering why I haven't seen him around lately.

I'm the perfect one to ask because I'm pretty picky about my truck. I've been to this event twice without skid plates. To be honest, all depends on who is leading and which trails they choose. The first year @Skierrichy took us strictly on greens and it was great. Nothing too crazy, didn't need any skids at all. The second time, I forget his name here, convinced me to run 'light blues'. They were wayyy too crazy for my ability and my truck without skids so I left with another member and stuck on the greens.

Long story short, it's doable without skids as long as you are smart with your lane choices and don't go on the crazy trails.

Just don't follow me if you're worried about pinstriping, or maybe hitting trees.

I would stay away from Dark Green trails without skids, honestly.

Yeah I was on some dark greens and did okay but there are definitely some opportunities for damage if you aren't careful or choose the wrong lane.
