    Back in the day, I used to buy a new truck about every 18 months or so. That was when you could buy a new 4wd for under 10K. My first new Toyota was just over 7K.

    The worst damage I ever did to any of my 4wds involved sinking 'em in deep mud or water. I LOVE hills...mud, not so much.

    ......old makes me sound.....well....OLD! I guess by some standards I am old. Funny how that works, the older you get the higher the number is for "old".

    And yes I do enjoy myself. More than that, I enjoy the OTHER people I'm around. It's all about the friends you make!

    Bad news. I am out. I only do one major thing a year and it my local St. Baldrick's event at Finn McCool's. It is on the Saturday of this same weekend. I've been doing this for years and not only raise money, shave my head; but also volunteer at the event.
    Pretty bummed out about missing this.:annoyed:
    Hopefully there will be another opportunity to participate at another event...

    So even with a cheap CB, by the time you add antenna and wire, it's going to be around $70 anyway.

    So is there a reason to not just get a handheld besides reduced range?

    Tell that to the TT 4wd, class 1 4wd buggy, pro am 4wd, rock bouncer 4wd, pro modified 4wd, super pro modified 4wd, pro 4 4wd, etc drivers ........ all of which compete and dominate in the Baja events, KOH, SRRS, Lucas Oil racing series, etc ...... Which just happen to be some of the benchmark events for the greatest off-roading competitions in the world. Go tell them that cause I don't wanna hear it.
