BTW, I'm hunting for the "puller" (actually PUSHES) that is used to press tie rod ends from spindles. It's a 2-jaw screw type device that will press down on the threaded stud to remove the tie rod end. I do a LOT of lift installs for other people. (A couple tire stores send me all their request's for lift kit installs) I'm sticking with Toyota's and Jeeps, but I need the same tool for either. Right now I'm using the BFH method....I hold my breath and hope I don't break a spindle while I'm doing that. I'm gonna look at Horrible Freight next time I'm there. Any suggestions appreciated.

Lol, it's on my list also. Be doing mine soon, probably after LBL. Sticking with the Hamer method for now.

I've started a dozen times to make one.....It shouldn't be that difficult. A good grade 8 course thread bolt and nut would work for the threaded part.....If my sloppy welds could be trusted.....Probably be cheaper (and a TONE easier) to just BUY one. I ALMOST got in the Snap On truck today to see if they had what I wanted.....I probably could have traded my truck, the house and my left arm for one.

Went in for an alignment check today. The tire store I deal with gives a lifetime (of the tires)alignment when you buy new tires from them. It was spot on with one minor adjustment. Got the numbers (on a print out) in my truck....I'll post it when I'm at work. Also had the tires rotated (10,000 miles....second rotation) While doing that, the tire tech found a nail in one of my tires....a #8 galvanized box nail (What would normally be used to put together wooden privacy fence panels) It went in one side and out the other side of a lug....didn't penetrate the carcass of the tire. The tire tech was a 20-something young lady, maybe 100lbs soaking wet. She tossed around the 265/75/16's on stock rims like they were nothing. Made me feel kinda weak....

Had 'em check the balance on all 4 while they were off the truck. One was 1/4-oz off, and now corrected. Other 3 were still prefect. So much for people whining about Duratracs and their not being able to be balanced.....

So..... i was trying to figure out how I'm going to fit all my bug stuff (big tote that has all my camping shit, coolers, spare tire, and grill) in the bed of my truck..... i even mocked it up (yes, i know i have 3 weeks :crapstorm:). Well, my oldest friend sold his house and put some stuff in storage.... this trailer hitch basket being one of those things......... so short story long, he let me borrow it. Now i can fit everything and will be strapping the grill to this thing :D

For a tie rod ball joint that should work fine to unseat it. Although I too use a mini sledge and it works fine

Well visually the only thing new is the spindle gussets but hopefully my truck steers much better now and doesn't wander/ beat me up on the trails. I'm actually really excited about it cause the last trip was rough.

And my impact is easily the most reliable one I've ever owned/used. I've had it for 7 years now. Bought it for work then brought it home. I've used Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita for 10 years through work and Makita has outlasted them all. I've had the least success with dewalt and Milwaukee has stepped their game up over the past couple years but I haven't beat the everyday Makita drill/impact yet.

Short answer ..... I like it a lot. Haha
I really don't know since I took off the stock fenders but should be right under 3". Exactly 1.5" of threads showing on driver side and slightly less on passenger

gotcha, thanks. I was told that 2 full turns of the bezel equates to 1/4" lift. so the guy said since they come set at 2" even from the factory to hit 3" give each one 8 full rotations and youll be set. Im thinkin 6-7 turns just so reduce the full preload....but im not sure if that 1/8" would matter between 7 and 8 turns.

Using a standard 13" spring, general consensus is 2:1 ratio of lift/threads showing. This should be easy for you to figure out when you get them. If they are set to 2" lift then measure the threads showing and if you get 1" then you know that 2:1 is pretty accurate.
