You can look at the scratches on my truck and feel better about yourself. I ditched my mud flaps a long time ago, so I can't help you there.

I can't speak for Turkey Bay, but the forest roads are fine, pics are floating around here somewhere, if I find them I'll link it. I took my 2014 there when it was a few months old and completely stock...still had the bug deflector and mud flaps on.

Currently, I am still stock tires, suspension, bumpers...only mods have been aesthetic.

My advice: Wheel smart. Keep the mudflaps off. Dirty up the truck. Have fun. You and I may be the only two that will have to get pulled out of a sticky situation, but that's fun too!

    Later.

at least enough to still care about it... let's just say, I'm not ready to look like this guy:
    p139870_large+jeep+front_passenger_side_view.jpg
...but not so much to keep myself from drilling a couple small holes, cutting into my 4wd module, and running wires all over the place... :D
    sounds good to me!

Take this however you want but I swear I'm not trying to sound like a dick ......

If you are afraid of scratches then don't drive past the campsite. There are many trails that are tight with low hanging branches and protruding bushes. It is the woods after all. Your truck will get scratched. If you can't handle that then don't drive the trails. I'm not gonna talk bad about you for not wanting to scratch your truck. I don't care how new it is, it's yours and if that's what you care about then sounds good to me. But if you do drive it and get some scratches then get mad about it, I suggest holding it in or preparing your feelings cause I'm not too good at holding in my thoughts sometimes, especially after warning/attempting to help someone out.

On a lighter note ...... 95% of scratches buff out with a lil paint correction so it's not an end of the world scenario. If you are really unsure of whether you want to drive or not maybe hoping in with Dave or anyone else on a ride through the park can give you a better feeling of how bad it is or isn't. My guess is you're gonna end up driving :D

Put an aluminum wing on top of it and tell everyone it's a World of Outlaws Sprint Car.

About 46 hours away from doctor telling me if I can go or not....Camper loaded. Truck ready. Provisions bought. Just waiting for the order to fire engines.....

I've done more damage to trucks I've owned in the past in a freekin' parking lot than I did on a trail. (door dents, etc....)

If you worry about scratches, buy a buffer and learn to use it. Easy enough to fix 'em. Best prevention tactic is a nice heavy coating of mud.

I have noticed people give it more space in parking lots when the layer of mud says "doesn't give a f---". Then I hop in wearing my slacks and polished shoes to confuse them.

There are times when I miss the good ol' days of rusty 4" pipe bumpers and brush painted sheet metal.....Had a Jeep like that once. In a parking lot, you'd think it had Bubonic Plague or something. No one would park within 5 spaces of me.

We'll see if I get to test my new recovery strap. Supposedly it's got some stretch but not as much as kinetic rope. Just enough to not jolt when taking out the slack.

    I'm pretty excited too!

Got a big project due Friday at 8pm. Gonna have to grind tonight and tomorrow so hopefully I can turn it in early and come down Thursday after class.

    Edit: just to be sure
Is the 1-3 day permit for my truck or per person? Would a buddy have to pay $20 for the fee too? Are the camping passes the same way? $8/person or $8/site?
