@Jibbs .308 at our property in Adams Co. 12" target. I've hit over 1k with the same round. It took some load development but once you get a good load, that your rifle likes it should be pretty easy to hit 4/5 at 1k, as long as there's not too much wind.
Rifle: Savage 10 FCP-SR 20" barrel, Bedded action and scope base, egw 20 moa rail, Burris XTR rings, vortex diamondback 6-24 FFP scope, Cheap as hell bipod, Griffin optimus suppressor.
Round: 168 TMK set -.010 off the lands, 44.1gr varget, lapua brass, 210m primer

With a pretty much off-the-shelf hunting rifle and handloads I'm pretty happy.

I preferred the 175 match kings myself, but I dont doubt any sierra bullet will do the job. As im sure youre aware, even a 16x bullet will go trans at ~750, so being able to hit that 1k with a tumbling bullet consistently speaks alot to the load and rifle.

Now, my Savage 112 .338 Lapua is a different story entirely. It was effortless at 1k lol

I shot some 178 eld-x but wasn't too happy with their initial velocity (or performance). Was getting about about 2500 fps, I attributed most of that due to the heavy bullet in a 20" barrel and the reduced powder charge needed for the longer bullet, so I dropped down to TMK 168 where I found a much better velocity (2703).

I did the math and my 178 would go transonic at about 1,000yds, but the faster 168s would go transonic at just over 1,100yds. So they're super close. I've considered trying the 175 tmks as they're probably better than the crappy Hornady....but given that I have so much time in this bullet and have a round that I've had success with at 1025 yards I've decided to stick with it for now.

Are you two just going to jerk each others barrels off and talk about your loads all weekend or what?

Don't worry, we can talk about focal lengths, depth of field, and sensor sizes, to keep you from feeling lonely.

I’m delayed a bit, talked my buddy into coming down from Columbus to ride with me. He’s heading out soon.

I think I have @Jibbs phone but if anyone else wants to PM me I’ll need to get in contact once I get close

    See y’all in a while

Going off the group text I'm in, they camped in the creek where we were in April. Not staying there again tonight, I don't think. Service is very spotty depending on carrier out there, they'll communicate with ya eventually
