Normal ish. If it’s not an excessive amount I wouldn’t be overly concerned about it. But with what you’re describing it sounds like either your rack or pump has shit the bed. If the pump doesn’t make any abnormal noises I’d say chances are you need a rack. Not terribly uncommon unfortunately. To bad their not as easy to do as the Toyota Sienna mini vans are

No excesses noises from the pump. Given that I feel the resistance when the truck is not running, I think that points towards the pump being okay.

There was definitely more grease/oil there when I first took off the boot. I kind of thought it was from the tie rod joint, but it seemed bizarre to me because the other side was dry.

Any recommendations on replacement rack brands?

After searching it looks like OEM is best, then BBB may be the next best. Time to debate if $550 for OEM is worth it vs $350 for a new BBB, vs $220 for a Reman BBB. I welcome all advise.

Any other stuff to check before buying a rack?

Pretty sure it's the intermediate shaft. I guess the Rush mud was more than it could bear. 1 side of the U joint pivots fine, the other is stuck pretty good. That would make sense on why the steering wheel is light for 1/2 rotation, then stiff for 1/2.

P.S. That mud sucks. I've felt concrete with less tensile strength than that shit.

I need pics from this ONE trip to trickle out onto my IG for the next 3 months, so it looks like I go places often.

I've got a backlog of shit I need to work through before early October. I haven't forgot about your winch and bumper vid either.

Idk about the winch/bumper vid? As in, the point of the trip when I may have almost pulled my bumper off my truck?

Looking at the carnage yesterday, more than likely the rock hit after @TRDZILA graciously donated a few gallons of fuel to the cause and we were coming back to the group, is what made my bumper stick out like Jay Leno's chin.

    As always, outstanding!

The picture of Keith's @TRDZILA throwing that rock was timed perfectly!

Assumption based off this picture, after I downloaded and zoomed; front bumper isn't tweaked after the uphill downhill facing pull on @Summers_Kytaco_19

Had to be that rock I smashed into...
Keeping the other jerry can, FULL of fuel from now on! Or, drive to the damn gas station on pavement that split the park. Entire situation could've been avoided.

Ah yeah I did watch that video and there is no shift, pop, or squeak from your bumper while winching.

Sorry man, maybe next time! When there is a big group it becomes increasingly harder to get everyone on camera. My big lazy ass wasn't about to hike up that hill everyone had trouble on before we made it to the playground.
