You guys that have lifted your trucks did you have to pay for a reset for the cameras and steering sensor? I have lifted probably 15 Toyotas and have always been told this needs to be done but never has, I'm being told that the new trucks require it.

I told Les Schwab to skip it and if it needs to be done I'll take it Toyota just curious what has been your experiences?

Ya we have to calibrate the radar and camera same as 3rd gen.

4rh gen has a new way to calibrate them but requires a licensed techstream, you just put into a learning mode and drive it for 20 minutes.

problem is it requires a 700$ cable and laptop as well.

Probably depends on the lift, if you actually jacked up the camera angles, and lidar angle change.

What Les Schwab said was the main problem is the steering sensor as they reset the zero during alignment which could cause it to need to be reset. I'll update when mine is done but I would think a simple level shouldn't need it.
I lifted 2 3rd Gens and neither needed it so hoping it's the same, just talked to my buddy that I lifted his '25 Tundra last week and he said just needed alignment only, crossing fingers!

None of them need it, but it performs better if its calibrated. The nose sits high.

I agree BUT, I lifted our '22 2/1 with 285's and for 30k it worked perfectly. It was hit slightly in the front driver tire causing it to be out of alignment and when I took it in it popped a bunch of lights on the dash for the steering sensor. I had to take it to Toyota and they charged me almost $300 to reset the steering sensor which is why I'm concerned. If that sensor pops I'll have to do it again.

I honestly thought the 3rd gen had a really poor safety sense system, was almost better to disable it. The 4th gen is more involved and ya if it has no issues just drive it, remember that when towing the same effect happens so there's wiggle room in the system.

I havent recalibrated mine (mines a poverty sr5 without parking sensors)

adaptive cruise control seems to work the same but i also maintained a rake since i haul dirtbikes in the bed regularly, so that may affect things. I also dont use the lane departure assist cuz it bothers me. Blind spot monitor seems to work well too, but ive never trusted that on any vehicles that have them. Your mileage may vary though.

Mine has rake as well for dirt bikes and towing a camper.

I got it back last night and no recalibration no lights on and everything works exactly as it did before.

I bet this is more of an issue for those (like me) who have leveled their truck, which would change the angle of the sensor beams.

Changing the angle is likely to have a far greater impact than just raising the entire systems 2-3".

One solution, is to take your truck and have dealer perform 4 wheel alignment………I do that once a year on all my vehicles……anyway.
I had Leveled truck with 1.5 Ready Lift in front……
iF the alignment gets done, and the truck tracks straight, but your steering wheel is not, Dealer will reboot your Steering computer no charge under warranty , takes 1 hour and bill Toyota.

I have swapped out 3 different lifts, 2 were leveled, and have had 3 alignments, haven't re-calibrated it once. Everything still works just as it did stock.

That's good to know, the steering reset is the problem I had before.

Not having sensors in the bumper is a plus to me. I drive trucks all the time with rear sensors and have no issues what so ever as they work fine, but I'd rather not have them. Your truck does look pretty good BTW.

Vehicle sensor related, last night this woman jumps in front of my poverty spec 2G I was already stopped for traffic and I did notice her jumping out from between parked cars. She proceeds to yell at me while standing there and says get back on the side walk. I'm like ok she's crazy, she kind of leapt back and forth as I sit there. Then here comes her pitbull darting out between her and the front of my truck and runs in front of on coming traffic car gets the pup but he might have have gotten lucky and not bern too severe. I pull off when it's clear this only took about 10 seconds. Driving down the road I think, would any pedestrian avoidance system noticed any of this and responded accordingly? Lighting was pretty bad, she had on dark clothing and I was already stopped but getting ready to pull off as I saw her. I'm thinking it wouldn't have but that shouldn't come into play when paying attention.

I started with a leveling kit, ran it for about 6 months. I then installed an Icon Stage 3 lift. I only lifted a total of 2 inches. I have had zero issues with sensors and did not Calibrate anything after the lift.20250125_160302.jpg

    Front Alignment will be needed.

Wescott has a video. No sensor recalibration needed. Just be sure the keys are 30+ feet away when you’re working on the pickup. When gen3/4 gets jacked up to work on them and the key is in the pickup or close by the computer often thinks it was in an accident throwing codes, then you need to go to the dealership to reset the codes.

Decided to get an alignment after installing the Alldogs front leveling springs. I marked the cam bolts prior to installation and used them when tightening everything up. Even still, I had a sense things weren't quite right.

Here are the results of the alignment. Camber wasn't out as much as I thought, but toe was. Worth the $125 to me.

Also, note that rear toe is out. Don't think there's a way to adjust that on a solid rear axle, but interesting.
