Honestly I’m not an exhaust fab guy. These were kinda made from necessity as I tried ordering the Trailhunter OEM version but they are apparently backordered with no ETA. The dealer wouldn’t even let me keep my order in. So if I’m going to build one for myself I’m going to build a bunch of them

 

Got six more built and will ship all that were ordered today in the morning. One left in stock and more will be ready to go Monday.

 

I've been wondering how long it would take someone with a shop to start fabbing these economically. Love to see it! Much more inclined to support you making these than any of the current alternatives. Order placed!

I'm curious about the sound. Can anyone (with one installed) post an audio file? Btw, At The Helm, looks like a nice product.

 

I don't have any audio but personally couldn't tell any difference. Some say it's a touch deeper.

 

There are several audio examples on YouTube of before / after. Many say it makes no noticeable difference under load, but it idles very slightly deeper.

This guy says it is about 0.3 dB louder with the axle dump pipe, minimal. Obviously, none of this is exact science, but would assume the change in sound is imperceptible by most based on reviews. I ordered the OEM version a while back that won't be in until 8/27 (maybe). Was ordered not for sound, but to get the big pipe out of the way. Toyota does call it a "trail pipe" after all.

Truck got delivered yesterday. Tint got done this morning, and exhaust dump as soon as I got home.
Great product and seems to fit just fine on the LB if that matters to anyone.

Looks great! I went with OEM, but would have went this route if it was available when I switched mine out!

 

It seems like every exhaust enhances the absolute worst qualities of the 4g Tacoma sound and makes it sound like some 17 year old in a VW GTI. Cringey. Oh well, you can only do so much. Thanks for the video. Was curious about the sound and volume myself. Mine came with the factory axle dump, so I had no baseline to compare it to.

 

Got this installed faster than I could have driven to a muffler shop. Two 14MM bolts and you are free. It helps to drop the spare down and lift up on the rear bumper to get the old one out.
