Looks like McCarthy Toyota in Sedalia. I had my TRD OR 6MT shipped from there to Virginia. Good outfit that was willing to deal.

    That’s it. They want 44k for the 2023 4Runner with 56k miles.

    Yep.

Looked all over for a manual, but was filtering for SRs because any options put the OR higher than I wanted to spend. Found one outside Chicago but they thought they knew how MO sales tax works better than I do… so that fell through. Was going to go to IL to get an SR5 with an auto (financing with Toyota is a point cheaper on that side of the river), and they usually deal to poach STL buyers. Browsing online yesterday and saw this one was in Sedalia with no options other than mud flaps and heated seats - exactly what I wanted and cheaper than the SR5. They were closed for New Year, but the internet manager was checking his traps. Drove over this morning and picked it up.

I added heritage stripes to the front, Bonobo Recovery Points to the front, Black Exhaust tip, Bakflip MX4 bed cover and Lasfit floor mats in front and back over the weekend. The Storm Trooper is dirty as we had snow and the roads have been a mess with salt and all.

Did Toyota change anything to improve the durability of the white paint in the 4th gen?

i’m aware that the white 3rd gens have flaking and chipping issues, worse than the other colors. I never read enough about it to learn what was causing that. But whatever it was, did they make any changes?

    What about Dirt Cap?

Pic 1 was just getting home from a month and near 4000 miles of mountain travel, unpaved, storms and mess. The last of the storms got me 2 powder days and first chairs but did some natural cleaning too.

I digress from paint choices, but no one can convince me this is a poor product after that and my past Toyotas. Beyond the far superior powertrain, came comfort handling high wind, lights including fog, and the benefits of the TSS 3 and more.

Likely depends on your budget. The flare doesn't looked cracked in the photos, so the least expensive option is to have a body shop repair it, but even that could cost a few hundred. Maybe compare that repair estimate against a set of bolt on replacement flares from Nytop or RC that replace the stock ones and either come pre-painted or in the carbon fiber finish Nytop offers.

I looked at the Rave link, and I like how it makes the front of the truck look a little less "heavy" to my eye, but $2700 is a lot. At least it looks like everything is pre-painted if they do a good job with the paint. But with the Rave (or even the Nytop brand) wider flares, it might require a new wheel offset to re-set how the tires sit within the wheel well. If you want a tucked in look, this might be good, but I like the flush look with the edge of the flare

My 2 cents anyway! Good luck getting your truck back to pristine!!

A chameleon or how about Dirt Cap?

The photo does not really show just how dirty 3100 miles of chasing powder and first chairlift days got it. I'm not purposely abusive, my use would surely shock or offend the way some are here, I don't exactly know how I got the dent in roof so soon, but this far in I can absolutely say it is a good vehicle.

I still confess that it can't fit in my garage but sheesh I'd have been a stooge to get a short bed for that. For my use over and over and over the long bed and also the Fas-Top (soft topper & tonneau all in one) have been good decisions.
