For my 2nd and 3rd Gen’s the community developed some no drill mounts for a front license plate. It feels like there doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the same level of interest for a 4th gen version. So my question is, outside of the factory plate bracket, has anyone else found a good solution? I have about 3 weeks with my temp tag before I have to worry about it but I was curious if anybody had any insight.

Run it without front plates. See how long it take's til you get a ticket. I’m going on 30 years on 3 different vehicles with no front plates in NJ and zero ticket so far.

What's the issue with drilling into the plastic front bumper of a pick up?

Not much, just that I’m moving out of NY soon and if I can avoid damaging the bumper in anyway I’d like to avoid it considering I won’t need a front plate in my new State. Worst case is I drill it (I have the factory bracket) but I’d see if there was any other alternatives, that’s all.

what's this new state you speak of that actually allows not having a front plate?

My front bumper is un-molested & im in california, no plate or plate mount,
    Not getting pulled over...

That makes perfect sense and I see no downside to something becoming availble to make that happen.

I won't be surprised if more states don't make front plates a requirement and enforcement becomes standard. Today I'd imagine nobody is getting stopped for no front plate the resources are not there. When license plate recognition becomes more common than it is, and if someone was to develope the enforcement camera that catches the rear plate along with no front plate you get the violation in the mail. what AI can't do that? The front plate makes plate recognition that much easier.

Ask a kid ive been pulled over for no front plate probably a handful of times.
Seems like way less re- enforcing the laws out here in california last few years, or maybe im just driving less....

Majority of the cars on the roads out here have black-out entire front windshields...
See it everywhere, & seems like theyre letting it slide..

19 states don't require front license plates, and speaking for Georgia they don't even issue a 2nd plate.

I have made brackets for the second and third gen Tacomas for the last 10 years. I was approached by a 4th gen owner and did produce a one off prototype that so far as I know, he is still using. This was done via the internet and exchanging pictures and information. I am not making them and am pretty much out of the bracket business for the near future to take care of some other obligations but it can be done with some 1.5 inch aluminum flat bar if someone wanted to create their own.

Most places it probably isn't even a stoppable offense where the front is required. Yeah, that amount of illegal tint, bad tags, no tags, I see on the road here is crazy. Not everyone driving under those conditions is out there committing other crimes, but criminals aren't running around with good plates on cars registered to them. I saw a new moded 250 LC the other day, that I've seen before running down the high way with no rear plate. Probably owned by the dealer so they probably got some legal paperwork, but maybe they wanted to avoid any camera issues. More electronic enforcement will bring out more ways to circumvent that. I don't really have a point to this, other than there is less physical enforcement and it's not all day everyday but when there are rolling shoot outs and what not, nobody is worried about those equipment violations in comparison. If it's easy as a camera that could catch equipment violations as a revenue source and deterrent those days will come.

When I went to the local DMV to get my inspection sticker and new license plates for my truck last month the lady there while adding the inspection sticker on my windshield said that’s a very nice truck, if you don’t want to add your front plates on your new truck I don’t blame you. Just place it on the front dash and you’d be fine. Needless to say, I have the extra plates in the back compartment behind the back seats.

I remember seeing something here in VT that if it’s not supplied by the manufacturer it’s not required?
    Not sure for your state.
We don’t get registration stickers anymore and VT strong is ok on front purchased thru the state?
Just a reason to make a stop or make money!

My State did away with front plates a few years ago, was happy to take them off my vehicles.

I always carried my front plate attached to a broken off bracket in case I ever got pulled over. Smash some bugs on it for the full effect!

Everything looks better with out any plates. 2025 they probably aren't even needed on any recent vehicles that can emit it's own signal or who ever is driving the signal from their phone.

Also in Jersey up here. I see lots of cars where the front plate is visible on the dash and don't get tickets.
