And one could also argue that the 4G TRD OR comes with LED bed lighting standard where you had to pay extra for it in 2023, LED headlights standard, color keyed rear bumper standard, wireless CarPlay (not really fair since you can't even get it on a 3G). You can't argue one way and ignore the other points.
I will absolutely concede the no power seat standard being uber lame sauce though.

Yeah I’m not saying Toyota has never had a problem. I am, however, saying that the wrangler has been objectively less reliable over the long term than the Tacoma. Of course there are edge cases, but the fat middle of the bell curve has turned a lot of people off of a wrangler, even if you get $17k off an inflated sticker

You are the ultimate Toyota fan boi and Toyota loves you for it. Oh wait…no they don’t. They don’t give a shit about any of us…except maybe TFL.

The Tacoma history is pristine, no doubt- i love them. But my love for Tacomas isn’t going to blind me to the 2024 reality of this truck. The whole concept from the beginning is really gone with this generation considering the price tag. It was always supposed to be a small get shit done type truck, they’re pushing it into an overpriced product that’s truly lost its way. There is no value in this package, trash Jeep all you want but I’ll take a fully loaded Willey’s gladiator at $42k instead of a 60k Tacoma equally equipped. I’ll have $18,000 already in the bank, not including interest incase something pops up.

I’m far from the ultimate Toyota fan boy. I own three fords and a Chevy in addition to my Tacoma.

You got less than 10% off MSRP. I would not call that terrible but it isn’t stellar either.

When discount off these ridiculous 2024 prices hits more than 14%, I’ll start paying attention. Especially with the PIO and DIO around here.

There were three new Tacomas at the dealer near me last Thursday. A Sport, OR, and a SR5. They are still sitting there today.

I know what you are saying, but a power seat with height and lumbar and a rear slider are "essential equipment," whereas everything else that the 4G adds is, in my opinion, fluff.

I kind of doubt the 12%, but you're right, you used to be able to deal.

But, those were different times, and we are in a new era now. Everyone needs a new offroad vehicle frequently, it seems.

I’m not shitting on any brands. I think they are all pretty similar these days. I think that anyone that feels that the brand they drive is better than others is extremely lame.

I disagree that they’re all the same, and it’s pretty objectively true that modern Tacomas have had fewer problems than modern wranglers.

$52K is absolutely crazy for a mid-sized Tacoma. That is Tundra price right there.

Exactly, I think people have short term memory it’s wild to see how many just give in and vastly overpay - the inventory issues are gone folks, stop overpaying and have some damn patience for the right deal for once in your lives.
These will be 0% off + 10% off MSRP(at least) soon enough, you can take that to the bank.
