I made this post in another thread -

I can say that I was contemplating purchasing a new Pro, but after seeing these prices on sports and off roads, I will be sticking with my 21 tacoma for a very long time- even when it is time to purchase a replacement, the combination of un-necessary fluff (ie: power tailgate? electric parking brake?) & Toyota’s greed has tarnished their credibility in my eyes and I will be more open to other brands.

I think a lot of folks with 21-23 Tacomas will be doing the same thing.

I bought my third-gen TRD OR in 2016 for $36,000. I just ran that through an inflation calculator and in today's dollars, it's $47,154.

Same here, $35,116 for my 2019 TRD OR. Gonna keep it for a minute or two!

Price aside on the 2024’s….too many bells and whistles. I feel like they’re chasing a different demographic.

The outgoing design was pretty much from the 2000 designed 2nd Gen. Which was coming from the compact first gen which was really a first of it's kind. I think the 3g started some of the changes we now see in the 4g. The community did a lot of modifications to make trucks into what they wanted and you can see how that has spread into the 4g design and features.

I think it's been a cool transition to see. But with all that said I feel like the 4g can still do the traditional truck stuff the earlier gens did while filling the "adventure vehicle" image Toyota is going for. I agree about the design demographic, but think it can still meet the needs of most other demographics.

Toyota is the only manufacturer right now not reducing MSRP and other reductions. They are being extremely greedy, but fools still line up and spend $50,000 for a Tacoma that doesn’t even have power seats.

the fanboy is extremely strong for the Toyota brand and they’re abusing it.

people will wake up, they will regret it

Plus, rates are still high on auto loans and while it looked like they might drop by 0.5% or so by the summer, after the most recent news it’s probably more likely they will instead rise again before this is all done. I haven’t looked lately if toyota is offering any lower promo rates.

Prince Edward Island just bought a 24 white short bed manual trd offroad base model 51k Canadian. I'm kicking myself I traded in a 18 Cavalry blue Pro in Dec on a 21 NX 300 Lexus because I just bought a little kei truck but I missed sitting higher up I have had a few back surgeries I just feel more comfortable sitting higher up live and learn. So I just made a deal on this Tacoma and get it in 2 weeks. Pretty excited
