I really like the way an older gen tacoma looks with a newer gen wheels, and I think it is a cheaper way to get new wheels and tires. I know that the bolt pattern is different on the 4th gen, but someone must have tried a spacer that does the job.
Has anyone tried/fitted a 4th Gen tacoma wheels on a 3rd gen? if so can you share pictures.

Neighbor just got a 4th gen and used a set of aftermarket that he had from his 3rd gen.
Offset of wheel had some poke on his 3rd but has a lot of poke on his 4th gen.
Not sure if axle width changed or body width changed?

The 4th Gen offset is horrible. You'd look like one of those company trucks that fit on railroad tracks.

Since the 4th Gen and Tundra now share the platform, my guess is that the shared components dictated a craptastic offset for the Taco.

if a spacer is needed for fitment, then it might look ok. the offset cant be more than +50 on the new wheels

If that works for you, it is certainly a solution.

It should be a good time to score some takeoff sets.

Any idea what size spacer is needed to run 4th gen wheels?
