That is a silly comparison. We should be comparing a TRD off-road to a Z71.

Because the Z71 has a rear locker? Oh wait it doesn't. Because the Z71 has skid plates? No, it doesn't. ZR2 matches up to an OR, not the Z71.

I was thinking about comparing a Lamborghini Ursus to a Toyota RAV4. They are both about the same size and probably have similar safety features and cruise control.

I would think the ZR2 would be a better comparison with the Pro. But that’s just me being somewhat logical.

What kind of Porches are we talking about here. Wood, concrete, composite?

Aren’t those Supras just rebadged BMWs?

    :p

What about the pro makes it a better comparison to the zr2 than the OR?

Okay, missed the locking diff because of this:

Still, a base Z71 is pretty plain,

As someone else said, way over your head. I could have put brand X and brand Y. Supra and Carrera have the same performance specs and same track times. One cost twice as much. Porsche sells two 911s. Once is twice as expensive, is it 2x better?

Maybe the ZR2 Bison. Top trim vs top trim.

It's really not a fair fight, but Toyota has priced the 4th gen in such a way that you are forced to compare different levels of trim as the prices match closer.

But to be specific as to why I think the Z71 is a much better value than the SR5:
    Locking diff available for $650
    Rear seat vents*
Ventilated seats available (which aren't an option on any Taco AFAIK)
    Center armrest in rear seat*
    Better towing capacity by #1200
    More power
    Better tailgate with storage*
Better dash display and head unit as SR5 is only available with the small HU
    Power seats with memory*

*are part of a $1400 package, Conv III I think.

I can get a Z71 with heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, locking diff, towing package, rear area vents that aren't tucked under the seats, power seats with memory, sprayed in bedliner, equivalent safety stuff, a moonroof and the better HU for less than the SR5 with similar packages, barely.

I do like the rear coils and adjustable headlights on the SR5. As a guy who tows a ton, the headlights being adjustable is amazing IMO lol. And yeah, Toyota reliability weighs in as well. I just don't know how much weight to put there since it is all new.

To get a comparable OR vs. the Z71, it's over 10% more than the Z71. Basically I think the Z71 has a lot of value compared to the SR5.

One brand is driven by financial executives and one is driven by their IT guy that is obsessed with The Fast and the Furious?

I was parked across from a Colorado the other day. I will say I think the GM designers got paid per crease on the hood...

I think they should have put some on the roof, then maybe it would be safe to drive through a car wash.

I think the Bison is in a class of its own. Maybe the Trailhunter is closer to it than the Pro?
