Lacking a locking front diff is a huge hit to comparing top trims off off road trucks.

I have a buddy who has a '71 Nova or so with a cowl hood that is smaller than the Colorado hood lol. Maybe GM is just making good use out of some 50 year old presses...

3rd gen F body cowl hood comes to mind as well.

Why because it has 37" tires?

Front locker, winch bumper, full steel skids, etc.
The Pro is really just a truck with a lift kit and a lot of PRO badges.

The locking diff is actually standard on the Z71 so save your $650 :).

You can get ventilated seats in the OR.

    OR 14" screen > Z71 11.3" > SR5 8"

Z71 base is 41,600 and comparable (arguably not necessary) safety equipment plus towing stuff puts you at 43K. The 47K SR5 without the tube steps and body side molding etc is 45,700. Yes, more money but 2,700 is close enough to make you compare both. If you want red or blue, the Chevy costs an extra $500.

I think the OR would have way more features than the Z71 but it will cost you more. Can't get a locking front diff in either but you can get a swaybar disconnect. More HP vs better ride with coil spring rear?

Have to prioritize options vs price. Toyotas are a little more expensive if you do honest comparisons but that was true in 2023 and 2022 and...

Bison also has longer control arms, (more suspension travel, about 1.5”)

Toyota increased the track width with wheel offset.

This is the problem though. The lower spec Toyota costs more than the higher trim GM. And to get more HP on the OR is gonna cost you a whole heck of a lot.

An OR optioned out to "match" a Z71 is already about 5-6K more than the Z71. Adding the hybrid is gonna make it all of 7-9k more?

good to know on the ventilated seats though, thanks. I'm gonna go build an OR with them and see what happens lol.

Why are you still trying to compare one of Toyota’s lowest trims to one of Chevys highest trims?

Easier to add front locker than a swaybar disconnect - tie.

Not everyone wants a winch but I'll give that to Chevy.

I want a capable offroader not a rock crawler so aluminum is good enough, but another win for the Chevy.

Bison has longer control arms but I don't think the exact specs are out for either. I'm sure the Chevy has more front travel. In theory the better coil spring rear suspension on the Toyota will give you better articulation, so tie?

The "lift kits" on both are comparable with jounce control dampers etc, but to be fair the Chevy is probably slightly better.

I gave a lot of wins to the Chevy but one doesn't outclass the other. They are both heavyweight title contenders. Definitely comes down to personal preference.

Then add the hybrid... Yikes lol. Sorry, I just don't see the value in a 60k Tacoma with T&T, let alone an OR.

Sway bar disco is cool though. Paying Toyota $8800 for ventilated seats when GM charges you $1415 for is wild. Both are part of packages, but it really is a shame toyota doesn't do options individually like Ford and GM.

Also, ventilated seats being part of an $8800 package (#22) is why I didn't know it existed, I noped out long before I got that far down the line haha.

    Bison vs Pro
    ZR2 vs OR
    Z71 vs SR5

The Trail Boss, LT, and WT have rock hard door panels and are essentially SR level interior trim.

I will add that Toyota lacking an auto 4wd function on anything not named Limited is a huge downer for those of us in the North. The Z71 has it.

I will say the gmc canyon looks pretty good style wise, but no way would I ever buy another chevy. Unless it's a 60's corvette stingray or an lsx drivetrain for a hot rod project.

I'm not sure what chevy/gmc were thinking pricing their higher trim canyons and colorado's in the upper 60k bracket either.

As far as comparing a 911 Porsche (or any Porsche) to a Toyota Supra; not possible. Go drive a new Porsche, look at the build quality, interior, ect. No comparison. The BMW/Supra platform is pretty cool though.
