It wasn't a direct comparison. We were arguing whether one truck is worth 2-8K more than the other depending on how applesy orangesy you want to get.

The Supra and Carrera, on paper, look about the same. I'm sure the Porsche is better, is it 55K better? The Turbo S is certainly faster than the Carrera. Is that added performance worth 112K? It was more about how much more are you willing to pay for better quality, better performance, or even just a brand.

Aftermarket support for the tacoma also swings things quite a bit in the “intangibles” department for me

I believe that is Limited Hybrid only ($$$$$), TFL had the regular Limited and it just had normal selectable 4x4.

If and when I get out of my Tacoma (best forum out there, F150gen14 is good too though), I’ll stay here and argue with @Snakepilot over their lust for all things Tacoma. I watched a documentary on Jonestown last night and the Kool-Aid, I think Toyota is sending Snake their Toyo branded Kool-Aid. I’m curious were you charged $699 for Toyoguard Kool-Aid when you got your truck?

And fwiw, I’m actually looking at 2nd gen Raptors now Colorado/Canyon currently. I’d hit every mall in America I tell you hwhat.

For those that own Tacomas, when you bought it, it was more expensive than chevy/ford/nissan. Why did you pay extra then?

It's not all about Tacomas or even Toyotas for me. I have looked at F150 Raptors - won't fit in the garage. Considered buying a new home with a larger garage (I still am). Considered the Tundra (Pro) and GMC Hummer - same size concerns. Really like the specs on the Rivian and CyberTruck but the looks don't agree with me. This Mercedes Truck looks great and looks to be the size I would like, but they don't make it yet.
    upload_2024-1-26_7-2-43.png

Buying a vehicle is a big deal. Even if the price isn't a factor (and I know for most it is), if you're not happy with it at the end of the day, it's not worth it. No front locker? Probably wouldn't ever use it, won't miss it. The round fender flares on the R. Raptor or the power bulge hood on the Colorado? Every time I look at it, I would say "that doesn't look right (to me)".
Maybe Toyota did slip me some kool-aid when they replaced the engine in my 100K 1990 4Runner for free, but I feel that the Toyotas are sooo much more expensive comments are unjustified and the internet is such a fun place for verbal jujitsu.

Isn’t that Mercedes X-Class just a rebadged Nissan Navara?

Toyota has always been more expensive than the competition.

People usually pay a little more because they think they are more reliable and put up with its flaws otherwise. Those flaws seem to be fixed now, so going to pay even more.

There is still a cheap option, however people sure do like their extras, so it won’t sell as much. The most basic SR would fit majority of peoples needs, but people like to pamper themselves.

Are the prices of the midsize trucks in general worth it? Only time will tell.

Out of all of those trucks you decided on a Tacoma Pro? I’d go with the Rivian. You’ll get over it’s looks with how functional the storage is.

Same, had a chance to sit in a Rivian, very nice, way more classy than a Tacoma. No matter how much fluff you toss on a Tacoma, still looks cheap…even more so now. You could have the nicest most expensive Tacoma out there, it is still a Tacoma.

Want to impress the lady’s, buy a luxury class vehicle. Though those type of women are usually high maintenance

Have been surfing the Tundra and Rivian forums. Lurker though if you can believe that. :) Actually keep my mouth shut. :p

AWD would be nice, we get patchy snow and ice here, find myself flipping the 4WD on and off during the commute.

    tru dat! Lol!

That I like, being able to kick them open with muddy boots. My old truck had cloth inserts, impossible to keep clean, new truck is all plastic just wipe it. Though it does scratch easy, think I need a mine equipment grade interior to make me happy. ;) :)

Rivians are so over priced and you guys complain about Tacoma pricing . Up in Canada Rivians are going for over 100k lol . Also beware if you need to replace fenders or bumpers etc ....electric vehicles are not cheap

Seen a Rivian at a park and ride last week on the charger covered in snow. If someone local is charging there they need a ride to the truck.

I sure do like those Rivians, but yeah waaaay overpriced for what it is. Nothing more than a high falutin commuter vehicle, we have bunches and bunches of socioeconomic status symbols running around here. Raptors and Tundra Pros that never see dirt, Mercedes G-Wagons, etc, etc…

Like Volvo V90s too, not cheap either. They start at $60K iirc.

Guessing when Rivian goes belly up, should get them for fairly cheap. Good luck getting software updates though.

But alas, I am just dirt bag knuckledragger… :D the other part of me wants a mining pickup made out of plate steel that you can hose out the interior. Lol!

The Pro that Snake wants will be around the same price.

RIVIAN registrations are way up...they're doing pretty good and new model announcement in March this year

Rivian, Kia, and Mercedes see huge jump in new car registrations – a sign of what’s to come?

Couple of our clients have them, very nice vehicle.

Followed one home for a bit yesterday, one of the best looking vehicles on the road, but I like simple subdued styling. The headlights are much better in person, you definitely know it is a Rivian when you see it on the road. Like the SUV over the pickup, just a great looking vehicle. Love the interior too, think I am too much of dirt bag to ever own one though.

I saw both here in Jersey, I like the R1S better than the T. But definitely both are nice in person than in pics.
