I can’t wait for all the seat swap threads. Can I swap Iso seats into my 2001 Taco?

I think this is a pretty good guess on the price of the Pro. It’s going to be a few thousand over the optioned out American midsize. Toyota always is.

Functional or not, if Iso seats prove to be a popular upgrade that leaks into the aftermarket, then we’ll see more offered on lower Tacoma trims, and competitive designs will magically appear on other midsizers.

Just witness the enormous trade industry that developed just so Gen3 owners could get grills with “Toyota” script.

Nothing wrong with that, btw, it’s part of the fun of ownership. At least Toyota thinks outside the box.

I’m personally holding out for the next-gen remote reservoir Iso shocks by old man emu and dealer installed 1” seat lift.

Toyota didn't make the Iso Seats just for the Tacoma Pro. They will definitely be standard on the next Tundra Pro and 4R Pro. I'm sure they will be offered on next years TH, probably with a more subdued grey color (not camo). The problem with making it an option is you have to put a price tag on it. When it's part of a larger package the cost is buried. That's why they will probably only be standard equipment on the high end models.

How much would you pay for the Iso Seats? I'm sure many would say $0, especially since they take up rear seat room. How much room? Half an inch, a whole inch? Is a 1/2" a deal breaker? How much would I pay extra? Thankfully it's all bundled, but I'm sure it's adding $1,000. If it was an option I would think about it for awhile and then pay the 1K. Even if it were an option, almost every Pro made would come from Toyota with it.

I honestly think they made the seats as a marketing gimmick to draw some attention to the new model trucks.

100%....especially considering how many owners do not do any high speed driving off road....que the..I never off road, who needs a front locker, I don't use that 4wd feature that much...man gotta have those Iso seats, they would be awesome when you hit a curb at the mall....

But in Toyotas defense, that kind of marketing sells vehicles, there is evidence of it everywhere and people will easily fall for it, and it is a win win for the brand.

When Ford marketed the tailgate step GM made commercials featuring Howie Long mocking the idea.
Now GM has the Multiflex tailgate….

Absolutley. Guessing you won’t find a single post here of an owner previously asking for seats with shocks on their next truck.…gotta have a gimmick. And, credit to the marketing jerks, err… professionals, this one has everyone talking.

The very large problem with the new Tacoma’s various gimmicks is that the trucks are now prohibitively expensive in part because the gimmicks are packaged with “real” items like power/heated seats, or….side blinkers.

Good news is Toyota could fix a lot of the pricing pain by simply reconfiguring how they package items. And frankly, unless they feel like burning money, people shouldn’t consider buying one (or should shop the competition) until they do.

Those two (and ram to an extent) tend to copy one another. The Ford step makes sense and doesn't create too much of a failure point.. the GM/Chevy whatever the heck it is...not so much. So I guess if they start copying maybe someone will come up with a less intrusive solution.

Maybe the take rate wont be as high on this new truck as some think. My dealer is showing 10 2024 Tacomas on the way. If that number increases, or trucks begin to accumulate on the lot, then there might be some purchase price wiggle room even before the end of the year.

They are probably going to build even fewer of those than they will the trail hunter and pro.

947 2024 Tacomas on CarGurus. 11 are manual. Roberts Toyota in Tennessee has 3 all $5,000 over MSRP.

They don’t even use suspension seats in trophy trucks anymore. Toyota could have put more engineering into the truck’s suspension is what it tells me. Nothing more than a Band-Aide fix, the bling Starbucks never really goes off-road crowd will love them though.

The GM flex gate does make sense for a slide-in camper, no need to pack steps. If you pull a trailer, do have to pull the hitch to use it though.

Toyota’s betting the farm that the most loyal owners in the entire industry will shrug off the high stickers, distributor surcharges & dealer markups and jump off a financial cliff for the new one. This despite the fact that per Cox, the average new-car transaction prices are actually declining. I’m betting later this year we’ll see that current owners are smarter with their money than Toyota thinks.

Since we are all speculating: My prediction is that the ISO seats will also be featured on the TRD version of the new 4Runner.

It will also feature a short wheelbase, optional manual transmission, and no rear doors.

There are *probably* some engineering compromises on a mass-produced road car that aren’t made in trophy truck design. Seems like a bit of a false comparison. Yes, toyota could have build a center-mount IFS with 30” long control arms. That probably wouldn’t do great at other things a daily driver needs to do

Yes, the seats are gimmicky, but I’m sure they actually work noticeably.

    Mechanically speaking yes.

Styling-wise is questionable, most days I hate it, other days, hmmm…not too bad. Then look at the price, hmmm…what to the other guys have to offer?

Then think $50-60K, keeps the two Tacomas I own running for an awful long time. :)
