Kinda funny IMO. Sarcastic as hell, but maybe more right than wrong. Not sure I could bring myself to buy one even if I were in the market.

Since it has been a few years that I shared the following about Memorial Day here I thought it would be a good time to do it again.

    Quote:

It is important to understand the true meaning of Memorial Day. After flying in the Navy for 20 years and having 15 mayday emergencies, engine fires, cabin fires, etc, etc I still came back alive. It is not about those of us who made it back alive. It is about those who made the ultimate sacrifice who did not return alive. It is about those who will never again be able to experience their dreams and aspirations. It is about those who will never again be able to laugh and cry in life. It is about those who will never again be able to hold their loved ones. They are the true heroes. Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Is acoustic glass standard on all models?

I am also interested in this particular topic, notably cabin noise reduction.
Supposedly the higher trim Tundras have AG on the windshield with some side glass.

I cannot fine anything anywhere except people saying it is present on some Canadian Tacomas and the Premium.
But if it was truly there.... wouldn't Toyota make it a feature and line item on a window sticker and promo materials?
Maybe I am not looking in the right place.

Same for any active noise cancellation that might be in play with the JBL premium sound system.... which apparently Toyota has deployed in some prior car based models like the Avalon. Does the JBL premium sound system in the Tacoma have active noise reduction?

Are all of the settings documented somewhere public? It seems the owners guide only covers a subset.

It is interesting Active Noise Cancellation shows up in his OBD app, and the default is active.
His vehicle is a 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road Premium.
    Thanks for the link.

Those are not in the manual. A dealer can make those changes at the normal shop rate or you can do it yourself with the Carista OBD reader and the app.

I works very well, I love mine. I have played with it in rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper, and it works well. You just have to tap the gas pedal to resume if you come to a complete stop.

Toyota/Lexus has four different tune levels of the 3.4TT V6 (not including the hybrid). There are only two tune levels for the 2.4T (not including hybrid). With Ford upping the ante with the 2.7V6 in the Ranger, it would be interesting to see if Toyota will offer a "high output" 2.4T that made ~300hp/360Tq. Even though the engines would likely be mechanically identical, I'm sure it would come with a $1-1,500 premium (have to recoup the testing/certification costs, but less than half the premium of a hybrid).

That 2.7 is going to be punchy in the Ranger, it'll smoke the iForce Max for less money

I really like the Taco so I think I'll have to cover my eyes and pretend that option doesn't exist from Ford

If toyota did come out with a high output 2.4 turbo it will also come with the cost of reliability. I'm still interested to see the longevity of the turbos for the motor as it is. Although I'm sure with proper maintenance it will prove to be reliable.

Toyota's 3cyl turbo in the GR Yaris/Corolla has the same D-4ST direct/port injection and gets a lot more hp/tq per liter. So does Chevy from their 2.7 4 cyl.

That motor in the Ranger is going to hurt a lot of feelings. F-150 with the 2.7 is already quick. Regular cab Ranger with the 2.7tt V6 would be awesome.

Ford is tantalizingly close to finally giving Toyota something to think about but they too make some questionable decisions, like offering a Ranger PHEV in Australia but not the US and killing the long bed. The Ranger 2.7 Eco would be the frontrunner for my next vehicle--if it were a long bed.

Edit: You can now configure a Ranger with the 2.7 on Ford's site and I just built a 2.7 Lariat FX4 for less than a Tacoma Off-Road with the upgrade package.

    You can buy a 2024 F150 V8 4x4 XL for $44k before discounts.

Power at a low cost has been available from Ford for years and none of you own one.

A vehicle is more than its engine which is why you all bought underpowered 3rd gens :)
