I am all for improving aerodynamics too but just hope it doesn't go too far that it ends up looking like those teardrop looking bicycle helmets, lol.

only a few years? it was released in 2015. thats already 6 years ago. will be 8 years when the "2024" would be released. I would say thats more than enough lifespan out of a generation.

So far this is the only official Toyota teaser for the 4th gen Tacoma. Rumour is 350HP at 12,000RPM, but will retain drum brakes because they are better off road.

I heard it's going to be a hybrid 6 cylinder diesal engine. Three cylinders will be diesal and three will be electric.

Hence the rumoured dual pipe exhaust.

Can we get a ban on all speculative next gen Tacoma posts and "DiEsEl In TaCoMa?" posts that don't come with a credible source? For the love of god

Toyota’s going to keep the same engine and mate it to the 8-10spd tranny that’s in the newtundra

I personally would like to see an eradication of the NA V6 from the Tacoma line. Just a NA 4 cyl and a Turbo 4 cyl is necessary.

The V6 has been garbage since the 3.0. It had a hey day during the 2nd Gen for sure though.

The three electric cylinders will use a berylium magnet in the top of the piston and an electromagnet spark plug. The electric cylinders will use a separate tank that you fill with scented CBD oil. The dual pipe exhaust will have an x-pipe that mixes the diesal exhaust with the electric exhaust thus eliminating the need for DEF like most modern diesals.

It really is a brilliant concept that Toyota came up with.

I am thinking those posts were by me, not him particularly. From what I have monitored over the past 5 years, a lot of Tacoma insight had been a very dry well and vague, until I tried to dig into TNGA-F products circa 2016 and discovered that the current Tacoma had a scheduled end of production in June 2022. I started commenting on that almost 3 years ago, in seeing not much discussion existed here at all or anywhere else, except a Lexus forum I was formerly on.

Toyota changed that MY2023 launch later in 2019 to Q3 2023 for 2024, when the key models debuting TNGA-F had their own hiccups and needing an additional year of development into 2021.

A lot of folks here wrote off my assertion there wouldn't be a full 10 year life cycle when I first came here, stating 2023. It was due to being before that, not much was there to know about the 4th generation truck nor anything about the 4Runner and if the latter would even survive beyond its 5th generation. I am not saying that to be arrogant, but I noticed there was nada on here prior to 2019.

David Chao has a lot of good resources at his fingertips and really needs to lean into them going forward, because 99.9% of us do not post online generally and I am signing off going forward, so one needs Automotive Press to stop relying on surface info already available everywhere and dig deeper, to become the leading voice on Toyota insight.

Other than that, I totally agree with your post, regarding TNGA-F.

I wouldn't say that, but his professionalism and knowledgeable expertise is great and can make for great things. However, a lot of what he says seems regurgitated and his Tundra renderings were based on publicly accessible leaks, not blind speculation. Any insight about the new Tundra and the iForce Max hybrid and V35A-FTS TTV6, has been known well before he started reporting on YouTube or ironically could be found via forums. It wasn't new exclusive information, which one hopes he will zero in on soon enough.

A lot of what he says comes across as clickbait unfortunately and not newly informed insight, as one expects from someone as talented and experienced as him with deeper Toyota connections. I hope that he starts leaning on his connections better, to provide exclusive insight, because as it stands, some of us are removing ourselves from such industry commentary now that TNGA-F has debuted and upcoming timelines have been provided for the others.

On this forum, enough of you in 2019-2020 brought up the turbo I4 powertrain and future I4 hybrid, when he wasn't in the picture. With enough people discussing that already and studying Toyota's movements with LC300 and Tundra, easy to deduce a lot, which he barely did recently.

This guy keeps insisting on old information, which is no longer correct about the 4Runner launching next year. It isn't coming that soon and I wish he would avoid that, because it means the next person will be confused and have expectations of theirs unmet eventually.

I am pleased he is at least trying a hand at doing quality renderings, to keep the fire going until Toyota goes official, but I need him to fill in where myself, a few others, and the shy folks working at Toyota, generally won't comment anymore. TFL is only good at spy videos and others reaching out to them, with mixed results. The rest, have no exclusive insight at all. TundraDude or someone like that, had to have been the guy who did a grade A job in 2019, echoing my sentiments of a December 2021 launch before anyone else even said a lick.

If Automotive Press just keeps doing the same round of blind speculation like TFL and others on YouTube, no one is going to know anything new for the next 18 or so months, because as I get more Toyota information as time passes, I unfortunately won't be commenting on the next Tacoma anymore as Carmaker1.

I will only forward it to reputable media outlets, not comment publicly like I have been for years. So it's important David Chao makes use of the same resources and beats everyone else to the punch. TFL and the rest couldn't ever hope to do that the same, if he sets his mind to it and really digs deeper. There is insight I see, which Automotive Press often misses and repeats later on when it gets public.

What he is very good at, is dissecting the content better than any other YouTuber, drawing from his professional background.

I think the real future issue here for him is, he made himself way too public. His Toyota connections are not gonna pass on deep insight, at the risk he takes it public. It's why I don't do YouTube reports, because anyone who recognizes my face or voice, won't trust me with new information (enough don't already) and I could get fired/sued with what I discuss at times on various automakers.

LOL, that's interesting. I really hope he can deliver, because I am taking a break going forward, as work-life balance is too hard for me as time passes on.

Thanks btw, I do appreciate that. Please take care.
